Rafa – We May Not Sign World’s Best Players – January Is Difficult

Rafa Benitez thinks big and we’re sure if Newcastle can get promoted he would try to bring in some top players in the summer to further improve the Newcastle squad and try to challenge near the top of the Premier League next season – if at all possible.

But this season is all about getting promoted from the Championship and he is after players in January who can help us fill some weaknesses in the side – he wants a winger, a striker and a playmaker, but Rafa may not be able to get them all in.

In his many interviews yesterday he has said it is not a question of money – it seems Newcastle have plenty of that at the moment, but it’s just that the clubs do not want to sell in January.

Rafa Benitez – in training

We are trying to get some Premier League players in on loan including Everton’s Tom Cleverley, Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Manchester City’s Fabian Delph.

This is how Rafa responded when asked f he thought he could bring some players in this month:

“Sometimes it is not easy because you can find players and afterwards the club, they do not want to sell.”

“It doesn’t matter the price. We were talking with some clubs, but they said: ‘It doesn’t matter if you offer £15M or £20M. We don’t want to sell now because we are doing well.’”

“We have lost some players, but still we are looking for the right players.”

“We have time, we have this week, next week and so on. We have a little bit of time and we will see if we can find the same one.”

“It is not a question of money because still we are not worried about money, it’s a question of the right players and if the club will sell.”

“I will not say that we will sign the best players in the world now because January is very difficult,”

“But we can sign the best players for us, hopefully.”

“We are in a very good place with a very good mood and a clear vision about what we want to do.”

“The window is open, we have to keep an eye on players and see who can give us some balance. If we find these players, perfect.”

“If we cannot, then still we have some time and we have to make sure not to make a mistake.”

“But even with all the information you can make a mistake because you sign a player who has some problems at home or whatever.”

The good news there is it seems Lee Charnley is right behind what Rfaa is trying to do and therefore Mike Ashley is behind him as well.

It’s not often a Newcastle manager even talks about world-class players, but this is Rafa Benitez who wants to build Newcastle into a top side again.

Maybe one of the targets we cannot get in is Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson, since Bournemouth are doing well and they certainly don’t want to sell him in January.

The main player we need to get in is a playmaker as cover for Jonjo Shelvey, because we have looked too ordinary with Shelvey our of the side over the last three games.

We won’t be getting the world’s best players in January! Oh crap I was hoping Sissoko would be back.

Might as well go for a RAFA Bingo line-up:

    Sels
    Yedlin Hanley Clark Lazaar
    Tiote Anita
    Ritchie Gayle Gouffy
    Mitro

    Rafa bingo lineup.

    Darlow
    Yedlin Lascelles Clark Lazaar
    Colback Hayden
    Ritchie Gayle Gouffy
    Mitro

Probably our strongest 11! Only change I’d make would be swapping colback for Shelvey when he’s available
