It’s Very Good News On Aleksandar Mitrovic

The Chronicle are reporting that Aleksandar Mitrovic could be back playing again after just 10 days of rest after he seemed to have seriously injured his knee yesterday after five minutes of the game against Birmingham.

We had earlier this morning reported there was growing optimism that the injury was not too serious after Rafa Benitez had said after the bad it was a bad cut on his knee, but he wasn’t sure of the extent of the damage.

Well the news he could return so quickly would suggest there has been no ligament damage and that it is simply a very bad cut that will have been stitched up.

That hasn’t stopped Mitrovic being seen on crutches as revealed above on Ciaran Phelan’s Twitter account.

The injury must simply be a surface one, but it seemed Mitro went into shock on the field and was given oxygen, but a very bad cut could still cause that.

The oxygen led folks to thinking it must have been a really serious injury.

If the ligaments had been damaged and the injury was deeper into the knee he would have been out for the season, so this is really good news for Aleksandar who of course is a huge favorite with Newcastle fans.

Great news for the Serbian and for Newcastle.

UPDATE:

Here is the Mitovic injury as published by Sport Blic later today – so there are a couple of deep gashes there – and the player says it will be three or four weeks before he can return.

It’s still a lot better than being out for months.

Haha I meant I don’t have many gripes but re reading comes across like I do

The only thing that sometimes causes me worry is the subs and timing but I can see why they happen…and the contract extensions of course

I think we need to wait til the end of the window before we start making judgements about who we need and by when.

Mitro has not been involved at all for two months now so why are we all of a sudden going to miss him and when do you think we will actually need him when we have Murphy…aren’t they pretty much the same player?

Rafa is anything but stupid…he’s done the exact same thing he’s doing now with valencia 20 years ago…He’s building long term and all everyone on here seems to be worried about is Brentford and our short term form when in the real world it’s a 9 month season and we’ve had one bad month.

BIG PICTURE LADS…take a step back…wait til the end of the window…then look around at what everyone else is doing and then make a judgement.

Well I hope we don’t sign McCarthy or Cleverley. I’d rather sign a more attacking midfielder from this division than either of those two. If we where really desperate I’d take Cleverley if we couldn’t get anybody else.

I’d take either as an upgrade on Colback and try and bring in that Judge lad seems a low risk investment

Aye I just wish sometimes he’d make subs earlier Blackburn for instance offered nothing in the first half so Atsu coming on at half time and actually having a threat on both wings…but didn’t happen

aye…judge is a no brainer…600k plus wages if it goes wrong plus whatever we can sell him for…or 600k plus wages and he’s a revelation worth 8 million….but even if he does make it back to where he was 2 years ago, is that Premiership quality???

One thing I do know…he’s good enough to help us go up and that’s this years MAIN objective…and so will Cleverly or MaCarthy

If we’re signing any central midfielder from this division it should be the lad Cairney from Fulham. I noticed Chelsea recalled Izzy Brown from Rotherham and loaned him to Huddersfield. He would have been a better signing than those two. McCarthy and Cleverley would be an upgrade on Colback and Hayden but they’re not really creative players imo.

We all seem keen to sign Judge.
A player who has been out with a broken leg since March/April.
I wish him well, but how he will fair on his return is anyone’s guess.
