Newcastle In Move For New Transfer Target

The Sun is reporting today that Newcastle are looking to sign 20 year-old Virtus Entella full-back Cheick Keita.

The report is that the player has been watched by a number of clubs already this season, with his form having been outstanding in the Italian second division.

Cheick Keita – French-born 20 year-old left back

The Sun reports that Rafa wants to do a quick deal for the young defender before other big clubs make a move for him – so he would be one for the future at Newcastle.

Keita is left footed and usually at left-back for his club.

Keita has played over the last two seasons in the Virtus Entella first team and has made a total of 47 appearances for his club over that time.

Newcastle principally have Paul Dummett, Achraf Lazaar and Massadio Haidara as cover at left-back, with local lad Paul Dummett being the man in possession of the starting position at the moment.

But Rafa and Newcastle are always on the look-out for top young players who can be brought to Newcastle and improve under the coaching of Rafa on Tyneside.

Keita was born in Paris and is of Mali descent.

I don’t think we saw much rotation as we were on a winning street. Let’s not forget (to the whingers) that Rafa almost set a record for most wins in a row.

I suspect yesterday’s formation change was partly Rafa experimenting for a plan b in light of recent form.

I do think that we can argue all day about formations. But you pick the formation that suits the players you have not the other way.

Hmm a left back from serie b.

I know Italy is the home of defenders but this will be a rough diamond development player at best I suspect.

    “Jib // Jan 7, 2017 at 6:25 PM

We are going through a bit of a sticky patch I’m surprised Ibiza , Jesper and Geordie 2 haven’t reappeared”

Jib…My lack of posting these days has absolutely nothing to do with whether the club is in a “sticky patch” or not (for the record, despite being in the Championship, I don’t consider this a sticky patch. We’re 2nd).

It’s solely down to the way in which posters decide to deal with each other on this blog and then Ed’s handling of that, not the club itself.

I don’t even use the blog much, yet you still feel the need to mention me negatively? Get a grip Jib.

    Ibiza
Is Ed still doing the usual of “I’m not really responsible for the comments section” bit?

Anyway have to admit it was weird that after the result there was very little in the way of football discussion

tads…I presume “still” is the case. Gave up on that one a while back to be fair.

Non-footballing comments have always been big on here, it’s more the abusive and obviously on the wind up posts imo that cause a problem.

But hey, what does it matter, it’s just a football blog after all.

Lucky if it gets over 200 even on a matchday now.

Apparently people have been driven from the blog by the likes of me, tuff, Ibiza, tsunki etc et attacking others.

Nothing to do with the scourge of wums and troll that infest it or the resident thick as mince homophobic racist.

International breaks even got the blame too lol.

Bet your glad to be back

Find it hard to believe that posters who mainly were interested in talking about the club have “driven” posters away

Find it hard to believe anyone can be driven away from a blog in all honesty
More likely people get fed up of repetitive insults
Remember a few poster being vile, one racially abusing Cisse during the wonga thing another constantly using derogatory racial slurs then passing them off as justified because he was supposedly related to those he was degrading

Others aren’t that clever about it tbh, their still bleating the same stuff from god knows how long ago i stopped posting regularly

For what’s it’s worth the main reason i stopped posting tbh was the website not the posters

The adverts, the mobile site signing you out every 2 minutes the lack of fluidity in discussion due to a new thread every 5 minutes etc!

    Ibiza, Tads

I’d imagine that Ed’s as frustrated as you at the idiots who are responsible for the troublesome, mischievous and vindictive posts that have impacted on the Blog. But, what can he do?

These people are supposed to be adults and act responsibly but as one name is banned, another pops up in its place.

I’d imagine that Ed’s well aware that long-standing posters have stopped doing so but’ll understand their reasons.

I’d imagine that he cant be far away from concluding that he and his family have more important things to do with their lives than wasting much time and effort on providing a platform for idiots who are determined on spoiling things for genuine supporters of Newcastle United.

Ed, please forgive my presumptioness in presuming your thoughts and many thanks for the hours you devote to The Newcastle United Blog. They are not totally wasted.

Will Gillead or Roberts get a crack at it this season? The side looked like it could do with a shot of youthful enthusiasm yesterday. I breathed a sigh of relief when Sammy went to Bolton but he’s back again.

Like you I read this site a lot but do not contribute much but that is going to change because until ED gets rid of those bloody annoying adverts that come at the bottom of his articles I will just stop reading and only checking now and then to see if they are still there.

For all using Adblock Plus: stop, and install uBlock Origin. It is lightyears ahead of ABP, lighter, faster, and it doesn’t allow “acceptable advertising” if you don’t want it (read: some people gave ABP money, and they get added to the acceptable list).

Yeah we could do with a bit of freshness being brought into the team. I do like Roberts and gilliead has got ability but both lack the physical strength atm to be useful in the championship. I’m not against them being given a couple run outs this month mind but they both could do with loans.

I have been posting for a little while now from about June/July to get involved with the Martoon prediction thing at the start of the season but I had read the blog for ages beforehand without posting. For what it’s worth Ibizatoon…………. You come across as stand up guy. You get a bit of a raw deal on here but you never get involved with the insults and try to answer any negativity towards yourself, intellectually.
