It looks like Newcastle United are still trying to sign 20 year-old left-back Cheick Keita, who plays for Virtus Entella in Serie B in Italy and he has been attracting attention with his excellent form this season.
Newcastle were first said to be interested in the Paris-born player of Mali descent over the weekend when it was reported in The Sun that Rafa Benitez wanted to sign the youngster.

Today there is is a report in Italian outlet Tuttosport that the second division club do not particularly want to sell their young star, but that it would take more than €2M, which is around £1.75M at today’s exchange rate – for them to even consider selling him.
It will be a low risk signing if Newcastle go ahead with the deal and even if it doesn’t work out it’s not much lost given the money Newcastle have available to them at the moment.
And that’s especially if we can get promoted in May back to the Premier League so the risk reward for the deal seems very low.
Rafa does have a number of contacts in Italy after he managed Inter-Milan for a short time in 2012 and then spent two years from 2013 in a successful reign as manager of Napoli.
It would seem to be fairly easy for Newcastle to cough up the money for the impressive young 20 year-old full-back.
The initial Sun report was that Rafa wanted to do a quick deal for the young defender before other big clubs made a move for him, so that would suggest we may be bidding for Keita very soon.
Keita has played regularly over the last two seasons in the Virtus Entella first team and has currently made a total of 47 appearances for his club over that time and he would be one for the future at Newcastle.
Rafa and Newcastle are always looking for top young players to bring into the club, where they can then hopefully develop the youngsters into first-team players under Rafa Benitez and his expert coaching staff.
