Newcastle Struggling To Sign Transfer Targets

We are past one third of the way through the January transfer window and no signings for Newcastle yet, although as usual we seem to have been linked with lots of players.

But each one of them lately seems to have become unavailable for one reason or another.

High fees for Brentford striker Ben Hogan and Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney was one of the reasons and long-term loan target Ruben Loftus-Cheek is now staying at Chelsea to fight for his position in the first team.

Fulham’s Tom Cairney – too expensive

Last night the Nottingham Post reported that another of our reported targets – Ben Osborn – was not available in January and that Newcastle had been informed of that.

Newcastle want Tom Cleverley on loan for the rest of the season, but at least at the moment Everton are looking to sell him this month.

January is always a very tough month to get good players into the club simply because clubs don’t want to lose players half way through the season unless their contracts are running out in the summer.

The two main priorities at Newcastle seems to be a central midfield playmaker and a striker.

We seem to have enough players who can play on the wing although the local papers are reporting that Rafa would like to bring in a goalscoring winger this month.

Newcastle were linked with former target Tom Ince yesterday.

It seems he would cost around £8M, but whether Steve McClaren’s Derby County will sell him is doubtful.

So we haven’t had any breakthroughs yet although we were warned it could be difficult and to stay patient.

At the very least we need to bring in a central midfield player who can replace Jonjo Shelvey.

That seems our number one target and if we cannot get anybody in our promotion chances could be adversely impacted if Jonjo should pick up an injury or be suspended again.

What do you think?

No need to be a k–b. You could take one day off. I was just asking the guy if he meant to say something else as his predictive text didn’t make sense. A bit like your ramblings.
