This Player Seems To Have Fallen In Love With Newcastle

We have been really impressed with Cristian Atsu since he arrived at Newcastle and he seems like a really nice guy.

It’s obvious that Cristian is desperate to stay at Newcastle after his season long loan deal and he’s often said how much he likes it at the club.

Of course it’s up to manager Rafa Benitez to make the decision on whether he will sign him permanently, but the lad is very popular on Tyneside and he certainly has the ability, if Rafa can bring it out of him on a consistent basis.

Cristian Atsu – loves it at Newcastle

Cristian is at the Africa Cup of Nations and the tournament starts today.

But Newcastle are still on the lad’s mind as he tweeted this today:

Here’s a tweet of Ghana’s last training session.

Ghana’s first game is against Uganda on Tuesday – we’ll have to watch that on TV.

Two years ago Atsu had a great tournament and he was the AFCON Golden Boot winner.

We hope Rafa signs the 24 year-old on a permanent basis in the summer, but at the moment it’s by no means certain he will do that.

Comments welcome.

If Charnley has not already negotiated a price for Atsu he may regret him having a good tournament.

No creativity in the side, playing away and single striker getting marked out of games. Rafa must know the solution is to play counter attack and defend deeper, just need pace on the wings which neither Ritchie or Gouffran have.

Lazaar is still keeping his chin up despite his tough fight to make the team.

Whatever he says , it must niggle that he has missed an opportunity to play with his countrymen in Gabon because of his transfer to NUFC.

Slight alteration to my Rafa Bingo line up (not that I ever expect it to come through)

    Gayle
    Lazaar—Ritchie—Yedlin
    Colback—Hayden
    Dummett—Clarke—Lascelles—Anita
    Darlow

Legolas – everyone else puts their sides in the wrong way around, not me like!

    Darlow
    Anita – Lascelles – Clarke – Dummett
    Hayden – Colback
    Ritchie – Perez – Gouffran
    Gayle

    Darlow

    Hayden Colback
    Ritchie Perez Gouffran
    Gayle

Can’t see us keeping a clean sheet so going for a 2-1 win.

Colback may not be top drawer – but I don’t think we have any numpties (in my understanding of the word) left in the squad , after Rafa’s Summer clearout.

    Re wrong way round..?

It surely depends on which way they are kicking in the first half – which makes you correct 50% of the time (theoretically anyway, averaged out over the whole season).

Why do so few of you follow Jail’s simple instruction to include
    the words Rafa Bingo?

And how Jail is supposed to pick up all those changes,
    I don’t know.

I don’t think we’ll sign atsu tbh. Didn’t get a sniff at Bournemouth or everton in the prem. Personally don’t think he’s good enough and will be one of several players to get replaced should we go up.

Rotunda, I agree – so why are we unable to revert to 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 in the absence of Shelvey (or a creative replacement). This is the Championship, it works. It worked last season for Leicester & Watford. Rafa finally had the team working on 4-4-1-1 before the Birmingham game, so why not as soon as it was known Shelvey was in the disciplinary dock?

..or maybe 3-5-1-1, we never found out as Mitro was stretchered off and it reverted back.

I hope we do keep this lad.. Maybe we could stand him next too Sammy for a photo shoot of the new (nearly new) signings.

Lack of new faces kinda shows the worth of Ritchie and Mohammed lads who are willing to drop a level to rebuild and prepare for next years premier league title challenge.

If we cant get the players we want to join us for six’s months graft while getting to know there place in the new squad what does that say about them ???

God forbid we fill our squad full of big ego’s who care only for themselfs and the wages they can grab while doing jackshit for our club.
I would rather be down here watching Sammy pass it to Armstrong than another bunch of sissokos..

Haway the lads . Three points today to prove we don’t need jonjo as much as most people believe we dee

    Precisely!
We have to be realistic, and accept we aren’t in position A to sign anybody top drawer to come in and transform our midfield now. Even loans are proving elusive. Players don’t trust our position and obviously have better options otherwise they’d be here now. I trust Rafa to be targeting the right players for us, they just ain’t attainable at this time.
We have the capability to go up with what we have, it’s just gonna be hard work.

Perhaps we should have booby consolation points for the least number of correct players.

I reckon my 5 out of 11 for the Brum game must be a winner or loser. 🙂
