Brentford 1 Newcastle 2 – Official Video Highlights – Overseas Fans

Here are the video highlights of yesterday’s game at griffin Park which seems to play around the world for overseas fans.

Newcastle hung on after Daryl Murphy put us ahead with a great header after that man Dwight Gayle scored his 20th goal of the season but then Dwight was taken off after 29 minutes with a hamstring injury.

It was a great 3 points for Newcastle but we did carry some luck in those last 20 minutes with 9 minutes of stoppage time but that was because of the guts shown by all our players.

It’s very tough wins like these that can get us promoted.

I can imagine what gets said on the Swansea Blog but I would not want to share it in public.

So essentially the Peoples report is wrong because it suggests there was a change when in fact there hasnt been a change at all and its always been the same as ever? Ignoring the sensationalism obviously but tbf thats news these days

    catchy.
It was Colback that done all the hard work to give him the ball in the first place.

Both Colback and Perez did very well on that ball, if only they could do that consistently throughot a match. Not that I’m complaining about either player, for me they are both valuable, even if they have missed a few tricks this season.

.com don’t often write on rumours.
“Post-match press claims of a difference of opinion between Rafa and Mike Ashley over club transfer policy emerged, a story given added impetus by the presence of the owner here and at Birmingham.

Having been allowed to fashion a squad for this Championship campaign, we’d speculated just what would happen next summer if the recruitment was for a Premier League season – and whether the bulk of our transfer kitty was actually spent while Rafa’s predecessors were in charge.

The problems of recruitment in the current window were already becoming evident before today’s latest bout of injuries – it promises to be an interesting couple of weeks, not just to see who (if anyone) arrives to plug those gaps, but on whose instruction they are ultimately acquired”

    WW…,
To have his instructions carried out he needs a yes man desperate for a job, he has seen where that has got us, why would he fcuk things up again, is it because we have a couple of Rafa songs and none for him, I wonder if the ‘orrible tw@t is that vain.

Regardless of what people think of Colback, we are going to see him paired with Jonjo as Hayden might miss the next game/s through injury

It’s a match up that has worked OK so onwards and upwards.

Without a replacement while Shelvey was missing able to pick out Gayle’s runs, there was an argument to play Murph or Mitro up top, with Gayle off his shoulder, and perhaps Yedlin and Haidarra to get forward from the back, use the depth and quality in the squad and play a more conventional 442, and really go at sides.

As it was, we essentially made do with the same system with reasonable, but not great success. The percentage play, and perhaps the correct one. It’s hard to say.

If we don’t risk Darlow or Murphy on Wednesday and with Ameobi and Sterry cuptied , the seniors to pick from are as follows:-

    Sels
    Hanley
    Lazaar
    Yedlin
    Perez
    Dummett
    Colback
    Ritchie
    Lascelles
    Clark
    Gouffran

If I was Rafa I’d bring in Curtis Good , Callum Roberts , Dan Barlaser , Jack Hunter , Liam Gibson , and Stuart Findlay to train with the seniors this week

……..so with so many quality options open to Rafa, there was an argument to play Gayle in another position, or even rest him for a game or two and set up a little differently.

Against that Rafa knew it was only 5 games and that he’d then have to change it back anyway. Shelvey and Gayle are quite the double act, and neither as good without the other.

There was an opportunity there to use the squad and give Gayle a rest, and now he of course has the hammy injury, which might have been avoided, just as Shelvey returns.

He took a decision, we are top, but it’s hard to know if it was the best, but you couldn’t say it was the wrong one either.

Yeah, but that perhaps really only suggests he perhaps should have been rested, if they knew he had it last season and having played so much already. It’s a tough call of course because Gayle has been so very good, and with the leagues top playmaker missing, can you afford to rest the leagues top marksman too. On the other hand, Mitro and Gayle are good players too, as are Yedlin and Haidarra. Perez I think is also better off the shoulder of a big striker, rather than trying to find a rhythm along side Gayles more unpredictable movement.
