Newcastle Fail With Another Transfer Target

News in the Mirror today that Jurgen Klopp is unwilling to allow his 19 year-old winger Sheyi Ojo move to Newcastle on loan this season – so we can tick another one off the list – unfortunately.

There was news on Saturday that Rafa Benitez was interested in signing the 19 year-old on loan for the rest of the season, since he was getting few games in the Liverpool first team.

The Mirror reports the German manager wants to keep some of his top youngsters involved with the first team this season and have them start competing for a first team place.

19 year-old winger Sheyi Ojo

Their best bet seems to play in the cup competitions with Liverpool in the semi-final of the League Cup but they lost 1-0 at Southampton in the first leg.

We thought the young winger would have been a good signing for us but it seems it’s not to be.

So we hope Rafa with the help of Lee Charnley will still be able to bring in a winger, a playmaker and a striker this month, with only 16 first team players available for the FA Cup 3rd round replay on Wednesday night against Birmingham City.

That’s scary, especially when we have a Championship game at home to Rotherham United on Saturday afternoon.

We now have seven players out injured – three players away at the Africa Cup of Nations – and three players already cup-tied.

So what seemed to be a massive squad is now looking a little threadbare – but somehow we have to keep winning – some how – some way.

Comments welcome.

Another none story down the pan. Makes you wonder though how much of this is down to the, new rules. I read on Google that Klippity wasn’t happy with the new rules and he might not allow players to go out on loan, just half an hour ago.

Jib, fair to say we’re both unsure on the ruling mate. 🙂 I can see a loophole though because the window isn’t shut, but would they say the agreement is already in place? Too late to change our minds? Or could we say, ‘ah but, the window hasn’ t shut and we want to change it before it does’? Your guess is as good as mine and mine is confused. 🙂

Fear not. Sammy will surprise us all and rip through defences. Or Andros will return on fire, just to show Palace how clueless they are. They did refuse to play Gayle as an out and out striker after all and he’s not done too badly for us, has he? 🙂 They also insisted Pardew was a great manager…

Looks like a decent player too, pacey and picks a pass well. Never mind.

Has anyone seen our odds have cut big time for us to sign James McCarthy.

I’d take McCarthy but he’s better alongside a defensive minded player from what I’ve seen? Not sure how he’d go alongside shelvey?
Rafa seems to be a fan of these Scottish raised players… shame we missed Oliver Burke! Tierney at celtic looks a good bet too

“West Bromwich Albion’s hopes of signing Fabian Delph appear dead and buried with Pep Guardiola keen to hang on to the midfielder, reports the Birmingham Mail.”

Wasn’t Delph one of the many linked to NUFC?

isn’t delph on about 80k a week or something stupid anyway? Maybe more? He was Villa’s highest paid player and city increased his wage by a bit so reckon he’s on a shedload there!

He’s worth a few bob so it probably filtered down from the directors box to his box , probably the craic in the members bar at half-time.

Shirebrook, Rafa said before the window opened he only wanted one or two players. Where all the others came from is anybody’s guess. Papers need to sell, so most make things up to fill copy space. Mccarthy and Townsend are the only ones I feel may hold water, with Cairney a possible. The rest I’ve pretty much ignored.

Townsend ability is not in question and I loved it when we signed him. I said at the end of last season the two players I would be gutted to lose out of the players rumoured to leave would have been Shelvey and Townsend and was gutted he left but I just can’t get over the fact he left when we needed him the most.

I can just read the headlines now.

Never wanted to leave, did to play for England. I’m am so pleased to be back. This is home.

Aye, silly season alright Shirebrook. Some crazy links to us, but that happens every season. What was it in the summer? Over one hundred I believe. You’d think they’d get as bored with it as we do! 🙂

Mccarthy and townsend would be great signings for us. If callum Wilson also came in I’d say that’s us back up. Goals, creativity, pace and passing…job done. A good starting xi that with 3 or 4 in the summer would be worthy I’ve tackling the premier league. Building that platform now is exactly what is needed. Trying to do that in the summer is a lot to ask go gel quickly.

    Darlow
    Yedlin clark lascelles Dummett
    Townsend Shelvey mccarthy ritchie
    Gayle Wilson

That would be ideal. crosses everything.

Legolas, to be fair, you ain’t far short there matey. I don’t blame him for putting his career with England first. Not his fault we got relegated after all, he did put his all into keeping us up. I just hope this one is true. The sooner the better as well.

Boring and frustrating mate as it is every window. But I’d rather us spend wisely and Rafa won’t be bullied into paying over the odds for a player. He will have more than one option unlike previous regimes

“Villa have submitted a bid worth more than £3m for the 26-year-old midfielder but continue to wait for an answer from Forest.

“Lansbury has sat out of Forest’s last two matches with the club unwilling to risk him getting injured. He is out of contract in the summer and Forest risk losing him on a free transfer if they don’t sell in January.”
