Karl Darlow has had a great season so far and it’s strange that his season is reflecting that of Rob Elliot last term, when Rob came in after Tim Krul was injured and became Newcastle’s best player.
A similar think is happening with Karl in the absence of Rob though injury – and the 26 year-old is still improving at Newcastle.
Karl was a bit culpable for the Brentford goal in the second half but he made some great saves for us throughout the game.
That included a great diving save to his right deep into the 9 minutes of stoppage time that helped us hang on for the 2-1 win and all 3 points that sent us back to the top of the Championship.
Karl Darlow – another very good game for Newcastle
Karl got 37% if the vote and second in the voting was Ayoze Perez with 21%.
The 23 year-old Spaniard had a good game and put in a beautiful outside of the foot cross to Daryl Murphy who headed the ball home for the winner after 79 minutes.
We hope Ayoze can keep up this good form – we need him to in the absence of Mitrovic and Gayle.
Third in the voting was big striker Daryl Murphy with 17% and the Irishman got his second goal in as many games and he now becomes a very important player for Newcastle over the next few weeks.
Rafa will be hoping Daryl can keep up his goalscoring form and of course he has massive experience in the Championship with Ipswich Town.
