Rafa Upbeat – We Have Options – One Player I Like A Lot

Rafa seemed ready for the questions about who’s in charge of transfers at his press conference today and he was upbeat and said nothing has changed and that who is in charge of transfers is a tricky question.

But Rafa was keen to ensure everybody at the press conference knew there were no problems and that he speaks to Lee Charnley every single day about transfers and they speak to agents and scouts.

Rafa also hinted Newcastle have a number of options and that he is confident he can sign the players we need within the last couple of weeks of the January transfer window.

Rafa Benitez – Upbeat and forceful at his press conference

The manager hinted there were a couple of good players he liked and one in particular that he liked a lot – James McCarthy maybe?

This is what Rafa said about the transfers at the press conference earlier this afternoon:

“I want to sign best players possible for us”

“I don’t have any problem signing young players, if they are good players I can develop then, but January is always difficult”

“I would like to sign young players with enough quality to make a difference on the pitch.”

“I am going to try to keep getting players this month.” “I have a list of players I like and I’m confident we will.” “We have options”

“A couple of them could be really good.” “One I like a lot.” “Hopefully we can progress.”

“We are watching everything, it is easier on loan with an option or obligation to buy.”

Rafa played down any problems on transfers and he is concentrating on getting past Birmingham City tomorrow night in the FA Cup and then we have an important home game against Rotherham United on Saturday where we need to get another 3 points.

It could be a really entertaining game tomorrow.

I think players won’t be put under the same sort of pressure that Rafa puts them under in a League match and they’ll respond to the lack of tension.

A lot of talk Rafa and not enough action, just get players in and stop fannying about.

Jib – Maybe better than yesterday, but still a pretty awful game to watch. Seems like there is a stop in play every 30 seconds in these games.

I do like that he doesn’t pull out the cards too quickly at least.

    hibbit,
About Mashers getting involved, they very rarely if ever post anything based on speculation but sounded concerned over this article, as I said hopefully that’s the end of it.

I think it may be a while before Christian Atsu returns – this Ghana side could go a long way in this tournament – Avram Grant has got hisself a canny side.

Jamestoon, I’ve no idea but unlike Kinear I doubt Rafas scouting one of his own. I’ve confidence whoever it is they will strengthen the team, can’t see us looking at squad players.

RAFA speaking to BBC radio Newcastle about transfers – still looking for quality players to sign and still have time plus – don’t matter what age.

And he is in daily communication with powers that be on players they are after
