There are reports in Holland today that Ajax are considering ending the season-long loan of Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul after Tim has yet to play for the Ajax first team this season.
Tim was supposed to go to Ajax and play in the first team this season as he gets back form his devastating knee injury he picked up playing for the Netherlands in October of 2015.
He’s never played a first team game since then.
Tim Krul – Ajax may end loan deal
It hasn’t worked out as planned in Holland and we suppose the Dutch powerhouse want to end the loan and save on the loan fee.
This is not good news for Tim if it’s accurate and if he does return to Newcastle Rafa will have four goalkeepers vying for the first team spot at Newcastle – not a particularly good situation to have.
Young Freddie Woodman recently went on loan to Kilmarnock for the rest of the season so at least the youngster will now get some first team games.
If Tim does arrive back at St. James’ Park it could allow Matz Sels to go on loan back to Belgium so he gets some first team games.
But maybe a better solution is to try to loan Tim out for the rest of the season somewhere else.
We thought it was strange when the months passed by and Tim was still not playing in the Ajax first team – you have to believe his form has not been too impressive – but that’s merely an assumption.
20 year-old Cameroon International Andre Onana has taken his chance and been in the nets for Ajax this season having played 20 times for the Dutch club.
