Newcastle Player On The Man Who Can Get Us Promoted

Jonjo Shelvey showed his worth to Newcastle when he returned to the side on Wednesday night and after missing the last five games he put in a majestic performance in the center of the park against Birmingham and at the end of the night Newcastle were worthy winners by a score of 3-1.

And it now looks like DeAndre Yedlin could be seeing more playing time at right back with Vurnon Anita out with an ankle injury for about six weeks, but that’s a lot less than the two to three months first reported.

So it’s better news for the Dutchman.

Yedlin showed his attacking prowess and speed down the wing on Wednesday night and he has been interviewed in the local press and the American has talked about Jonjo.

This is what he said as reported in the Northern Echo today:

“It’s huge getting him back. He’s a key player for our squad and we saw that on Wednesday.”

“We’re all very happy to have him back. We’re just looking forward to having him for the rest of the season.”

“He’s the kind of player who can control games single-handedly so he’s a great guy to have on your team.”

“He’s bought in and he wants the best for the team, which is very important.”

“I guess we’re very happy and fortunate to have him.”

Jonjo is turning out to be a bargain buy for just £12M from Swansea a year ago and Rafa is certainly now getting the very best out of the 6 times capped English International.

If he can stay healthy and avoid any more suspensions Jonjo can propel us to promotion this season – that’s very clear now.

And if we can get promotion and Jonjo keeps performing at the level he has this season back in the Premier League, he could well get a call-up back to the England squad – he’s that good.

Is Sterry a Right Back too, or did I imagine that? Suppose he may see some action should Yeldin succumb to injury.

He’s done well in the championship has shelvey, bargain at 12m maybe!! Time will tell I suppose, the reason we rely on him so much is he’s the only central midfielder who can pass the ball forward.

If we go up it’ll be interesting to see how he plays, last season he was liability with his lack of work rate. We clearly need to sign creative players though, I’d rather not sign anyone in this window and get proper reinforcements in the summer.

On townsend I hope we don’t get him, especially on loan. He made his decision and we’ve moved on since……good riddance and goodbye, jumped ship quicker than anyone else!!

Just been through the Rafa bingo results from Brentford and there are three winners and Legolas, He posted his line up at 13:46 which is pretty close to the deadline, well it’s actually 46 minutes past the deadline, the jury is out, could we have a show of hands from the bingo team.
    Winners were
    dem +3 bonus points,
WW… with his first points and
There are now 19 different bingo winners with me in the lead with 145 points
Then firebug666 on 23 points and dem with 18 points.

His wiki page has him as one, but there was talk of him being Willo’s replacement some time ago.

‘Soft tw@ts’, ‘you prat’ – not surprised to see certain people are still having to resort to childish name calling.

It’s hard to criticise any players work rate before Rafa got here, the place was a demoralising train wreck of a club, with Mclarens head in his hands pose summing the place up.

If I was on the Rafa bingo disciplinary panel I would argue Legolas could have changed his team at 13.46 pm after being informed that a player was injured.

He would then be banned for life for cheating just like me,

So if Sterry is a proper right back it means we have proper cover at fullback for the first time in absolutely ages, we actually have the right players playing in their right positions …….amazing.
We just need them to keep the winning run going so we can build up a healtier gap between us and third place, at the same time wishing brighton and Leeds now come unstuck ….Come on lads, we need this win tomorrow….or at least i do for my little bet to come up 😉
Il be there with my lucky shoes on whooping and a hollering bovril in hand for when the temperature drops
    Shelvey, hayden
