Jonjo Shelvey showed his worth to Newcastle when he returned to the side on Wednesday night and after missing the last five games he put in a majestic performance in the center of the park against Birmingham and at the end of the night Newcastle were worthy winners by a score of 3-1.
And it now looks like DeAndre Yedlin could be seeing more playing time at right back with Vurnon Anita out with an ankle injury for about six weeks, but that’s a lot less than the two to three months first reported.

So it’s better news for the Dutchman.
Yedlin showed his attacking prowess and speed down the wing on Wednesday night and he has been interviewed in the local press and the American has talked about Jonjo.
This is what he said as reported in the Northern Echo today:
“It’s huge getting him back. He’s a key player for our squad and we saw that on Wednesday.”
“We’re all very happy to have him back. We’re just looking forward to having him for the rest of the season.”
“He’s the kind of player who can control games single-handedly so he’s a great guy to have on your team.”
“He’s bought in and he wants the best for the team, which is very important.”
“I guess we’re very happy and fortunate to have him.”
Jonjo is turning out to be a bargain buy for just £12M from Swansea a year ago and Rafa is certainly now getting the very best out of the 6 times capped English International.
If he can stay healthy and avoid any more suspensions Jonjo can propel us to promotion this season – that’s very clear now.

And if we can get promotion and Jonjo keeps performing at the level he has this season back in the Premier League, he could well get a call-up back to the England squad – he’s that good.
