Benitez’ Hint To Ashley – We Must Add To Squad This Month

We are hoping that if Rafa Benitez needs to go out and buy Andros Townsend to get him in January, then owner Mike Ashley will support him in doing that, always knowing that fee is part of the overall transfer funds allocated by Ashley for this month and in the summer.

That’s also true for James McCarthy of Everton – if we need to buy him this month and Rafa wants to do that, then he should be allowed to.

But if we cannot get a central midfielder and another winger in this month we could be stretched if we do start to pick up more injuries to key players – like Dwight Gayle and Jonjo Shelvey for example.

Vurnon Anita – out injured for about six weeks

There is always the possibility of more suspensions too – although those should be easier to control with better discipline on the field.

Rafa has pointed out today that we can so easily pick up a number of injuries and be struggling very quickly.

Just remember the game at Brentford last Saturday when we had three injuries and two of them – Dwight Gayle and Vurnon Anita – seem longer term.

This is what Rafa has said about the injuries today as reported in the Shields Gazette:

“We need to add to our squad because of the number of games.” “It’s a very physical league.”

“Look at Anita. One bad tackle, and you lose a player for five or six weeks. You need the numbers.”

Maybe that’s a hint to Mike Ashley to loosen up the purse strings a bit this month if we need to buy?

But first things first and we must not slip up today and Newcastle  have to pick up all 3 points against bottom of the table Rotherham – come hell or high water.

McCarthy would be excellent. Is Townsend any better than Ritchie? Not sure.

‘Anybody can alter wiki to suit themselves.’ Really!

This is not the appropriate blog to debate the so called alt-right, our immediate concern is on the left, as in left winger!

Townsend is not the solution, he may add to the squad, but it is more likely his inclusion will cause problems within the squad. The team at present would appear to be very close knit, rotation does not seem disruptive, and we don’t hear of any salary moaning.

If Shelvey had kept his mouth shut two months ago, this topic would not be on the agenda.

Must be off now. Time to click on wiki and change the story of last season, Easy Peasy…

i like ritchie but townsend under benitez performed much better but still i will not over pay for a player thats just left us and for the transfers wait in the summer even though we can get injuries. because we simply cannot sign players at a fair price or players that will make huge diffrence we just got to bite our tongue till the summer where it will flooding with talents and the owners will get back there sense !! squad is more than good enough. but the refs and the bans and the injuries how much of that is in our hands ?? it is fair to say that it is in the destiny hand. so i will not be crying over no signings but them damm refs uuhh !!! Alex Smithies has now saved 3 penalties against Fulham this season and saved 6 out of 10 penalties since he’s been at QPR.

If Rafa reckons he needs to add to the squad to make sure of promotion then that’s good enough for me. It also should be good enough for fat Ash – but it appears that it might not be.
With the riches awaiting us should we make it to the premiership, surely it makes sense for Ashley to pay a bit over the odds for a player who Rafa wants, or buys one instead of holding out for a loan deal.
Any money paid out on players now will come back tenfold if we are promoted. If we don’t go up however, we could be looking for a new manager for next season – it’s got to be a possibility.
No Jail, no one on here doubting Ashley’s motives is willing us to fail.

Ashley wants the clubs value too increase and to use sjp as a billboard for his brand , charney will make profit and rafa can use that to achieve success on the park , given that the park is always full i see no valid reasons for us to fail.

    Haway the lads

I liked how the youngsters slotted into the team on Wednesday. It gives me hope that the next wave are starting to come through. The way they performed makes me optimistic of an academy influenced by strong footballing pragmatism with a soupcon of first team experience.

Now for the present day I would like to see a few goals and possessional dominance today. 4-0 would be nice but we will see. Howay!

It would be nice to bring our own through but unfortunately, we will just become a breeding ground for bigger clubs unless FIFA have the balls to really make the rules fsir and equal.

    That’s the spirit expat!

I suppose if 13 year olds go for hundreds of thousands of pounds it could be a good money spinner.

I would like to believe that we could become one if the top 6 teams in England. I know many would consider this impossible.

I was reading that chap ian holloway’s idea of putting an appearance threshold on big wages essentially limiting your earnings based on career appearances. What us your take on this? I kinda like it.

I seen today that some European court has ruled that fifa rule 17.2 (or something) as in direct contravention of some work law or other. Apparently it meabs transfer fees are illegal. Based on my suppositions regarding three tiny paragraphs in the sun newspaper. Could be interesting to see how this develops.
