The Mail are reporting today that Newcastle are interested in Leicester City’s 23 year-old Welsh International winger Tom Lawrence.
Since Tom signed for Leicester in the summer of 2014 he has been on loan at various clubs – Rotherham, Blackburn Rovers, Cardiff City and currently Ipswich Town.
Lawrence has been in decent form at Ipswich and he is certainly the right age.
Tom Lawrence – Leicester City winger
Tom joined Manchester United from Everton at the age of eight and came through the Manchester United Academy.
Burnley and Sunderland are also said to be interested in the winger and maybe Lawrence is a back-up in case we cannot get first choice Andros Townsend through the door this month.
The Telegraph were reporting last night that Newcastle have moved on from Andros – so let’s hope that’s not true.
The 4 times capped Welsh International did not make the Welsh squad for Euro 2016 Championships and is available for just £1M, but we wonder if he’s good enough?
Tom played only once for Manchester United and with all his various loan spells he’s still made 99 first appearances with 15 goals.
We assume the only reason we would bring him in is if we cannot get Andros though the door, although we have also been linked with Swansea winger Modou Barrow.
The Chronicle are reporting this morning there’s definite interest from Newcastle in Barrow.
What do you think?

Comment #2Good championship player not so sure he’d cut the mustard at a higher level though.

Comment #3Would be a great signing.
Doing well at Ipswich.
Plays attacking midfield or No. 10.
Should definitely buy at that price.
Would actually prefer him to Townsend or WheelBarrow!

Jail.
There is nothing, zip, nowt, FA to substantiate the proposition that after Palace triggered Townsend’s release clause for £13m, a deal was created to ‘swap’ GAYLE plus at least an ‘instalment’ of £3M, a couple of weeks later.

Tynemouth,
Palace triggered Townsendend’s 13M release clause on the 30th of June and the deal was expected to be finalised 48 hours later. Dwight Gayle signed a five year deal with a 10M transfer fee on the 1st of July. Which makes WW…,’s suggestion, not conspiracy that there is 3M outstanding very plausible.

Against Lincoln for Ipswich he was the only one with any clue. I’ve seen him again today score a cracking goal and he has pace and strength! Get him in asap !
