Newcastle Surprise – Could Lose Top Player This Month

There are reports out of London that Chelsea are looking for a goalkeeper to replace backup goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and they are supposedly interested in signing Newcastle veteran goalkeeper Tim Krul, who has played 157 times in the Premier League for Newcastle.

Tim finds himself on loan at the moment, but unable to break into the Ajax first team since he recovered from his serious ACL knee injury.

Tim Krul – Newcastle goalkeeper

Chelsea’s number two goalkeeper Asmir Begovic will join Bournemouth this month on a straight transfer deal.

The Guardian is reporting manager Antonio Conte wants Tim as back-up to Thibaut Courtois, but we wonder if Tim would like the idea if sitting on the bench as backup to one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Krul is yet to play a first team game since he injured his knee 15 months ago playing for the Netherlands and Tim’s comeback has been difficult.

The Sun are reporting that Chelsea players want their manager to sign England International Joe Hart as backup to Courtois, but once again we would expect Joe wants to play first team football and he’s not one who likes sitting on the bench.

We’d be very surprised if Tim Krul moves to Chelsea, but the 8 times capped Netherlands International will have various options in the summer.

And Rob Elliot is also starting to get itchy feet, as he finds it difficult to get a game at Newcastle with Karl Darlow and Matz Sels ahead of him in the pecking order.

Rob Elliot – wants loan move

Ireland manager Martin O’Neill is unwilling to pick Elliot for the squad while he is not playing first team football.

Rob would like to go out on loan, but there’s no chance of that with Rafa Benitez wanting three goalkeepers fighting it out for the number one position at the club.

I really wouldn’t mind if Chelski took Krul of our books, we have enough keepers to see us through.

Krul is a good reflex shot stopper, but he does not dominate his area well enough, and his distribution is appalling. Good luck with your career Tim, and hope you do well, but don’t let the door bang your backside on the way out mate.

Darlow is deffo our first choice GK now, with Elliot being my preferred back-up plan. I do hope Selz comes good, but I panic when I see him putting his gloves on.

Swap Krul for Atsu – job sorted !

Andy Carroll’s increasing indications of a yearning for home – a mini Angel of the North on his drive in Chigwell – buying a home in the North East – inicate a possible move back in the Summer.

Rafa is a sly fox – the best way to appease the fans for the sale of Mitro would be the return of Saint Andrew.

Everyone is lauding Darlows ridiculous save vs RUFC but if you watch the replay closely, Yedlin’s recovery pace to put the initial tackle in is incredible. Rapid !!! More amazing is he was in a standing/relaxed stance (“keeper’s got this, all is good”)

@5 Carroll is always on the drink, often crocked, and has a tendency to beat up his ex girlfriends. Not for me please Jib.

It’s kind of a shame that Tim, a young goalie, is being dismissed casually. He’s been a top goalie for us, saved us from many a humiliation. My only concern about him has been his injuries.

I also understand Rob’s position. But, it’s the nature of the job. Rotation is rare, though I’d do it.

As Jayfoto pointed out yesterday , when looking at NUFC players , the first question should be – did Rafa sign him ? – if the answer is no – then don’t hold your breath.

Zidane is being criticised because Real Madrid is suffering an unprecedented injury crisis.

“Hey” say the Madrileña press “even that terrible manager Benitez never had problems like this” – idiots .

Zizou welcome to real world of footy management any idiot can pick a winning eleven from a squad of galacticos – it’s keeping them happy and fit that’s the hard part.
