Mitrovic, Barlaser, Gamez, Good And El-Mahnni Start At Oxford

Rafa Benitez has just announced his starting eleven for the FA Cup 4th round tie at Oxford United this afternoon and as expected it’s all change for Newcastle and Shelvey does not start this game and center-back Grant Hanley is the captain for the day.

The subs bench is strong – Rob Elliot, DeAndre Yedlin, Paul Dummett, Jamaal Lascelles, Jonjo Shelvey, Matt Ritchie and Yoan Gouffran.

The only surprise for us is the absence of 21 year-old former Celtic defender Stuart Findlay, but Curtis Good gets his big chance this afternoon and it’s the first time Good has played for a long time.

This seems the line-up in 4-2-3-1 formation today:

Sels
Gamez Hanley Good Haidara
Hayden Barlaser
El-Mahnni Perez Lazaar
Mitrovic

Rafa thinks it will be a difficult game for Newcastle today:

“I can see a difficult game,” “It is a massive game for them, and they will approach the game that way.”

“At the same time, I have confidence in my players. I am confident we can go through. “If we can go through while managing the squad, then fantastic.”

“If not, we have to concentrate on the league.”

Just over four in five fans think we can win this game this afternoon.

Rafa is right it is now a difficult game with the team he has selected. Obviously the Cup is not a priority.

Gutted there is no tv coverage 🙁

On MCarthy he is definitely an upgrade on colback but we need more creativity.

    ————-Darlow——-
    Gamez—Hanley–Good–Haidara
    Mhanni–Barlaser-Hayden–Lazaar
    —————Perez————–
    ————–Mitrovic———–

I am guessing that is how they will line up.

Good to see Mitrovic playing. At least we will not have to hear how sh*** Mitrovic is from some contributors – when he isn’t even playing.

e.g. Murphy scores a goal; therefore Mitrovic is *sh***.

Could turn out to be a difficult game and potential banana skin with that line up. After all promotion is the main priority this season.

    In Rafa we trust

Few changes, but it’s good that we can utilise the squad. Hopefully El-Mhanni and Lazaar get provide some good service into Mitro.

Nice to see Good in there, and hopefully the young lads can put in some eye-catching performances.

6-11 probably as good ( 🙂 ) as anyones pick today.

Glad to see Rafa has not been tempted by the lure of the cup and raided the first team for players.
Do not at any cost want to disrupt or get any of the first team injured.

Would never in a million years have guessed that team bu predict a hard fought battle 2 – 1. to the Toon.
