Senegal Out Of Africa Cup Of Nations – Lose 5-4 On Penalties

Senegal drew with Cameroon 0-0 after extra time tonight in Gabon and Cameroon went through to the last four winning 5-4 on penalties.

That means Mohamed Diame will be on his way back to Newcastle and although it’s unlikely he will be available for the game against QPR at home on Wednesday nigh. he could be ready for the home game against Derby County on Saturday.

Mo Diame – Newcastle United’s Senegal midfielder

In the penalty shoot-out Cameroon scored all their five penalties – while Senegal scored their first four but then Liverpool’s  Sadio Mane missed his spot kick and that was the difference.

Newcastle’s Henri Saivet scored Senegal’s fourth penalty.

Mo Diame was an unused substitute in the game tonight, but played the whole game in Senegal’s third group game – the 2-2 with Algeria.

DR Congo play Ghana tomorrow so we’ll be getting either Chancel Mbemba (DR Congo) returning or Christian Atsu (Ghana), depending on which country wins the game and advances to the semi-finals of the tournament.

Oh dear it looks like a lot of tired little soldiers need some warm milk and an early bedtime.

Not only does Santa not exist or the tooth fairy have an endless supply of coins to exchange for your toothy-pegs but – supwise supwise! – Mr Ashley still has his man Lee in charge of the business and Lee says it’s Promotion First, Second and Last and NO NAUGHTY CUP RUNS!

It’s adorable that some of you think that nine changes and a team core consisting of perennial stiffs were going to gel like a commando unit against a blood and guts league side fighting for a historical victory. Come on now, no more story time…night night…dont let the bed bugs bite.

All we need now is no new signings, a couple of key injuries, a slide down to 5th place, Rafa walks and at last we will get the manager and team we really deserve. 🙂

Jail – think your mate is wrong there.
Because a release clause is activated – it only means that the interested club can speak to the player.
The player has ABSOLUTELY no obligation to be sold. he can tell the enquiring club to P**s off.

Please do not listen to this guy again – he’s talking rubbish.

You’re saying you wanted us to win today but we’re better off out of it because tge league is the priority. As for Rafa, he either threw it (presumably for the same reason that you think it would be better for us if we were out) or he picked a team that he thought could beat a lower league side. If the latter, he got that badly wrong.

I’m pretty sure he just picked a team where he didn’t care what the score was. Obviously he would have preferred a win, but all in all he clearly didn’t care if this team got beat. Hence 9 changes.

Your not alone by believing what your ST holding mate told you about Townsend.

It’s said that Trump believes whatever the last person he talked to said.

However, your views hold sway whereas Trump’s lack your sagacity.

Jail for Ashley // Jan 28, 2017 at 7:42 PM

    Blackas,
Give it a rest man, a team was put out that wouldn’t get in the way of a hectic league campaign, they let us and themselves down, promotion is an absolute must this season.

    ***********************************************

    My reading of this is:
You think I’m unjustified in criticising Rafa for putting out a much weakened team that has embarrassed NUFC against Oxford Utd and spurned our chance of a cup run.

Rafa was justified because promotion is the priority and a good cup run and promotion are incompatible. Ergo, going out the cup is a good thing.

    Blackas,
He put out a team that should have beaten Oxford, the big hero Mitrovich who a lot of people want to see Gayle dropped for apparently spurned three chances in the first half and had his pen saved.
