Ghana Beat DR Congo 2-1, Mbemba To Return To Newcastle

Ghana have just beaten DR Congo in the quarter-final of the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon by a 2-1 scoreline with all three goals coming in the second half.

The scorers for Ghana were the two Ayew brothers with Jordan of Aston Villa putting his country ahead after 63 minutes.

Christian Atsu – helped Ghana through to semi-final

The just five minutes later Mpoku equalized for DR Congo before Andre Ayew, now at West Ham,  scored with a penalty after 78 minutes and that goal turned out to be the winner.

Chancel Mbemba (shown above) played the whole game for DR Congo and Christian Atsu played the full 90 minutes for Ghana.

Ghana will now play Cameroon on Thursday to see if they can make it through to the final.

Chancel Mbemba will now be on his way back to Newcastle with news today from Sky Sports that he  may be involved in a swap deal on loan for Andros Townsend of Crystal Palace for the rest of the season.

Mbemba is just not good enough ,he does not apply himself unfrortunatley lots of raw talent but a touch too much of the Titus in him .
Also he does not work hard enough for Rafa and that’s why he will be sold imo

That’s good news they are out we can get on with the deal get Townsend in quick

So one or two people max come out yesterday and say they want rafa out, a daft comment but don’t taint all of those unhappy at being spanked by Oxford as ppl that want rafa out.

Our 2nd string defence conceded 3 goals to a piss poor side yesterday and those who were harping on about the squad not being strong enough for a cup run now want to get rid of a player albeit short term in an area where we are arguably weakest.

All for an a player who left us at the first chance he got and for a position in the squad where we are strongest. Makes no sense to me

Mbemba is 21 / 22. He’s no where near the finished product so will make mistakes. Plenty of time for him to grow as a player.

Bonkers to write off a young kid

Don’t really get all the panic about the inactivity up to now in this transfer window. We have the same squad that is sitting just short of top spot, nice gap to the third position and hopefully, the mid season wobble behind us. Premier league bound. Summer will be the definitive window for our ambitions.

He’s not really a young kid ourtoon.
The lad had three different birth dates. It’s suspected he’s a good bit older, like a lot of African players in Europe. I’d be surprised if he’s under 30 to be honest.

I think Townsend is earmarked for the number 10 role mate.

    He has had his chance
Look at the top centre halfs in the premier league and their age
He is fundamentally lazy and was a big reason we were relegated last year
Townsend would massively help our promotion push
Mbemba will make no difference to it what so ever

Mbamba is one possibly for the future, decent championship player. Is he premier league quality who knows, certainly not yet.
Townsend will definitely improve us now,and promotion has to be our prioritie, his gain is far greater than loosing Mbamba.

Yes I think we are strongest with options for the position townsend wants. RW!! Ritchie and Atsu with others that can fit in if needed.

What will we do if laschelles or Clark or worse both of them get injured? Pick Hanley and findley or move dummett centrally with lazaar coming in at LB!!

Hahaha aye the old bone scan that nobody else was aloud to see no doubt. 🙂 Even if it came back he was 35 fifa would brush it under the carpet.

I remember reading about the Nigerian footballers where you could walk into the immigration office in Nigeria and forge documents and be any age you wanted to be, for a small fee of course.

They reckon some of those Nigerian players were 12-13 years older than they claimed. The likes of Kanu, Taribo West, Jay Jay Okacha etc etc

You gotta admit he doesn’t look 21-22

Mistakes? So do you want to talk about the amount of misses Mitrovic made that cost us? Or the fact that we always played with Sissoko who gave like 1 good performance over the entire season? (last game). Or the fact that we played Wijnaldum in every away game even though he never showed up?

In my opinion Mbemba was one of the bright sparks last season.

Mbemba just had one helluva paper round. Lions, cheetahs, Leopards, Buffalo, Hippos and snakes tended to make the round tougher than the odd dog lurking behind the letter plates!

Townsend will make a difference to our promotion charge? Where has he been all this time, he left to better himself and now isn’t mentally tough enough to battle with Zaha and Puncheon for a starting position so again he’s looking to leave a sinking ship.

Mbemba was one of the few bright spots in our squad last season.

As for the top centre half’s in the premier league I’d say only Kompany remains when he plays. These rest of them make far to many errors like stones, Cahill, lovren

Nar we have 4 good CBS and solid reserve level behind that on the wing we have Ritchie, Atsu has started 6 games and Gouffran is defensive we had to recall Sammy because of our lack of wingers and play kids on the wings in the cups

Nar we need a winger in if possible and a one that’s above this league is great business

Nope our toon it’s been going on for years and covered in detail many times. African players in Europe being much older than they say they are.

Think there was actually a poster on here before who’s son or nephew was in one of the academys who couldn’t believe the age of some of them in that academy.

Look, if Mbemba was in his late 20’s and he kept making these ‘mistakes’ (that you claim). Then I’d agree that we didn’t need him. But the fact is he is still young (regardless of the question marks over that subject) so he has plenty of time to eradicate these ‘mistakes’ from his play.

That hilarious mate, so jj okacha who came to premier league aged around 30 according to his was really 12 or 13 years older…..so was 42 / 43 and still performed really well

That’s some statement mate, kanu scored a hattrick in top flight football aged 42, that’s impressive and completely defies logic.

Can you explain how the Nigerians have managed to perform well into there 40s and the rest retire aged between 33 and 38, I’m intrigued to know the answers mate

Townsend has stated he prefers to play on the right, Ritchie is the same as is atsu. If we are looking for a winger the surely we need someone who wants to play on the left as the weakness is on the left not the right wing

I don’t think townsend is a requirement, nothing to do with being a fan or not. He had his chance and decided to leave which is fair enough. We’ve moved on and bought Ritchie as a replacement and Atsu on loan.

The biggest weakness is in midfield, if shelvey gets injured then we are knacked as we don’t have a creative replacement, other weakness is on the LW
