Newcastle More Confident Of Getting Townsend Deal Done

There’s a report in the Chronicle today that Newcastle were working late into the night last night to try to get the deal done for Andros Townsend with news in the Mail yesterday that Rafa Benitez was getting  a little tired of no  action from the Newcastle hierarchy.

There’s news in national papers today that Newcastle now feel more confident about getting Townsend through the door.

It seems like Chancel Mbemba going the other way will not happen and that they are working on a straight transfer with an option to buy Andros Townsend in the summer.

Let’s hope Newcastle can get this deal done but the issue is still the £2M loan fee.

Andros Townsend could be reunited with Rafa Benitez today

    One thing about living in a different time zone in Aus means that I at least get to sleep pretty much through the rest of this window.
    Hopefully I shall awake to find the following splashed over the back pages ;
    *Messi has been brought in on loan just as cover in case mr shelvey goes all ethnic mental again ,
    *PEA has driven through the night after realising this is where he wanted to be all this time after all.
    *We have sold mitro to Spurs for 30 mil,( when will they learn?) *Charlie Austin has hitchhiked from the south coast after a late night call from ed .
    And most importantly …. Welshie has agreed to stop moaning …:)

    Goodnight boys and girls

    If you’re missing Ed’s buses it’s time you went to bed to dream of waking to news of some stellar signings.

    What I can’t understand is that if it is £2m for loan fee then £13m in the summer, why not pay the £13m now and avoid the loan fee?

    I assume that neither us nor Townsend want to commit to a permanent deal until promotion is assured.

    The loan fees a joke. I don’t even think he’s worth 13million but typical newcastle style we waste a whole window haggling over one player who dropped us like a hot potato!

    They were trying to loan him wit an option to buy in case we don’t get promoted!
