Rafa’s Message To Newcastle Fans

We are a little disappointed we were not able to bring in a few good players in the January transfer window, but as we mentioned this morning we are still in very good shape.

Newcastle have only three injured players out at the moment and that’s a lot better than we have managed in previous seasons.

It will be important to keep upbeat since we are still in an automatic promotion spot and as long as we can keep winning the majority of our remaining 19 games we should be OK and get promoted.

Rafa Benitez – Newcastle manager

Rafa has talked yesterday about where his focus is and it’s always on the next game although he obviously knows where we are in the league table.

But his mantra is to take one game at a time and concentrate on winning it – and not get too far ahead of ourselves.

That seems like a good message to the fans too.

This is some of what Rafa said yesterday:

“Obviously I know where we are in the table but my focus is on the next game.” “We are working really hard trying to prepare for it.”

“It will be a difficult game for us and we have two games this week so, as I have said in the past, it is really, really important that we stay calm.”

“Keep working hard, have confidence and try to win every game.”

“I will see the table in April maybe but now, I think it is important just to concentrate on one game at a time.”

“Queens Park Rangers are doing better now.” “They have had some good results and it will be a tough game, like the majority of them are in the Championship.”

“The manager has experience – and watching them, they change systems in some games and they will be quite difficult to break down.”

“We have been doing well for the majority of the season and hopefully we can carry on with this form.”

It’s going to be a tough game tonight – but it’s also a vital one to win to get us back on track in the league.

It’s going to be a great season to be in the PL this coming Autumn.

No Sunlun and no Crystal Palace/Allardyce to stink the place out.

I don’t mind Boro being there.

Teessiders , though simple , are pleasant enough folk , and do acknowledge Newcastle as the Northern powerhouse , they know their place.

I loved the advertising hoarding in one corner of the Stadium of plight while watching them vs Spurs “Newcastle International – OUR airport” that must really please the locals.

Swansea bought loads – Newcastle did not.

If you want a clue why – look at their positions in their respective leagues

Going for 3-1 tonight. Expect a positive reaction from the cup and a need to widen the gap over third place again

If we were given this position at this stage of the season. …We would all have taken it.

I was as annoyed as anyone we failed to bring in a couple of players.

Only the last few games of the season will we know if the club got it wrong.

i hope we win because the negativity is lurking around…
but i see no need to panic and expect us to win with the fresh players coming in . now we gotta take this league by the horns because our close rivals has gotten stronger it feels like the whole league got stronger but we all see aston villa ! new signings cant help unless its a upgrade to what u already got !. i trust this team to go straight up and put my faith in rafa who i have been more and more positive about. for anything else wont help

There’s gonna be a massive London bus parked across the leazes end goal come quarter to 8 tonight. I’m confident we can get through it. Any kind of goal for us inside the first ten would be just the ticket please lads, just to calm the Ancient Mariners among the ranks. Don’t need a cagey game tonight.

QPR’s last away game saw them play 4-3-3 and beat Reading 0-1. Unbelievably, QPR had 27.9% possession.

It could be a tricky one… Wolves used 4-3-3 against us, in a game we also dominated possession in, coming out 0-2 winners.

“The referee at the centre of the Jonjo Shelvey controversy has been appointed to take control of the Newcastle-QPR game on Wednesday.

West Sussex whistler Tim Robinson has been appointed to United’s midweek game – his first Newcastle match since taking charge of United’s controversial 2-0 defeat against Wolves.

That match was mired in controversy – firstly for the contested decision to send off Vurnon Anita late in the match. Rafa Benitez said afterwards that Anita’s challenge “was not even a foul” and the club challenged the decision.”
