Newcastle Midfielder Deal Now Very Close

It looks like Cheick Tiote may finally leave Newcastle before his contract runs out at the end of June with the Chinese transfer market still open.

The news yesterday was that Cheick was taking a medical in China although the last time we heard he was taking a medical in late August, he was then reported to have failed it at Galatasaray in Turkey.

But it seems the 30 year-old will finally get his dream move to Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng and assuming he passes his medical the deal should be completed by tomorrow.

Cheick Tiote – leaving soon?

Apparently the terms have already been agreed, so it looks  like this time it should go through, but we’ve said that before.

Cheick joined us from FC Twente back in August of 2010 and he’s played for us 156 times with that one stupendous equalizing goal in the 4-4 come-from-behind draw against Arsenal in February of 2011, shortly after he joined us.

Let’s hope for everybody’s sake, including Cheick’s, that this deal goes through this time.

He’s been a shadow of the player he was for quite some time now. Hope China works out well for him, not sure what the standard is like there, so maybe he could get his mojo back.

A good servant to the club but a bit of a leech the last couple of years – however good luck to him, at least he’ll be able to keep his 2 wives and girlfriend in the manner their accustomed to 😀

So our captain is now a ‘donkey’? And yet Colback does all the dirty work and what needs to get done etc?

I know who I think has cost us more points.

I think they are a bit more tolerant of photocopied driving licences and insurance certs written in crayon. He will be ok. Skills graveyard but a nice earner is China.

Pics up that he’s now signed. Good luck, wonder how much/little we got for him?
