Who Has Been Rafa’s Best Signing This Season?

With Matt Ritchie coming on and scoring goals in Dwight Gayle’s absence this year, Matt has become a potential Player of the Season in what we are hoping is another promotion year for Newcastle United.

Dwight has scored 20 goals for us and Ciaran Clark has established himself as Newcastle’s best center-back  and he’s playing some of the best football of his career.

Rafa brought in 12 players last year with one of them – Christian Atsu – on loan and the rest signed permanently by Rafa.

Dwight Gayle and Matt Ritchie – great signings for us

The manager also sold players to make a profit of over £30M for the club – with the help and hard work of Managing Director Lee Charnley, who gets the players signed and sold.

Dwight Gayle has been a huge success, but other signings like Ciaran Clark, Isaac Hayden, DeAndre Yedlin, Mo Diame and others have also been good signings.

Jesus Gamez and Ashraf Lazaar still have to come through and we have seen that when necessary 33 year-old Irish striker Daryl Murphy can score the goals, so last summer’s transfer window in general has been extremely successful.

The January transfer window was not and we’ll leave it at that.

But of the 12 players Rafa brought in, who do you think has been Newcastle’s best signing?

Gotta be Gayle for me, his goals to games ratio is only bettered by his desire to score.
Ritchie a close second mind ,for his attitude and willingness to graft for the team.
Third is a bit tougher, either Yedlin or Hayden, il give it to Yedlin mainly cos we nicked him from under scumberlands noses and hes improving every game

Just noticed he has 2 votes now! I voted Gayle, but was really torn between Him, Ritchie and Clark.

Could you put Sels down as “one for the future” or is his goose well and truly cooked with us fans?
I would send him on loand to a championship side if were promoted and keep Tim, Elliot and Darlow, give him a season getting used to the crosses and he may come goos…….if not ….sell him to liverpool, hes still better than their gk

I hope and think that Sels will be one for the future, however, currently he is at least my 3rd choice in the nets behind Darlow, and Elliot in that order of preference. I think a loan deal might be best for him.

Maybe some of our overseas visitors are having an evening tipple or one or two of our UK residents are having rocket fuel on their cornflakes?

I voted for Hayden, goal scorers and attacking players will always catch the eye and as a result get a lot of votes and in the case of Gayle and Ritchie, especially Gayle rightly so, but the anchor man role is so vital, they have to support and protect the back four and at the same time give us an opportunity to get forward and due to Hayden doing his job so well it enables him and Shelvey to get us moving forward so quickly, Shelvey has been instrumental for us, but would he be as impressive as he has been without the impact that Hayden has made, Gayle has been phenomenal all season whilst for me Ritchie has been ok until recently when he really does seem to have improved dramatically, but for the whole season for me it’s either Gayle or Hayden.
