Is This Rafa’s Team To Beat Wolves On Saturday?

Rafa had a good message today on the injury front regarding Dwight Gayle in his press conference today, but we still don’t think the striker will start the game tomorrow at Wolves.

Rafa will need to be 100% certain he has fully recovered from his old hamstring injury before he starts him again – but maybe that will be at Norwich City on Tuesday night?

So here’s a team we think Rafa could start tomorrow afternoon at Molineux:

Darlow
Yedlin Hanley Clark Dummett
Hayden Shelvey
Ritchie Diame Gouffran
Murphy

We think Grant Hanley could keep his place at the expense of captain Jamaal Lascelles so that’s just one change from the side that started against Derby last Saturday with striker Daryl Murphy in for Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Christian Atsu could also come in on the left wing for Gouffran, or have Matt Ritchie move over to the left wing with the talented Ghanaian International starting on the right wing.

What would your team be for Wolves?

Not exactly true, but there you have it. Carver is always one game away from the sack…

And I’ve seen good and, equally, bad posters come and go. It balances out eventually.

    Whatever happened to…

Being here a long time, I don’t quite agree with the demise of the blog. There have always been all kinds, from complete nutters, to decent and poor comedians, to good and bad analysts. It’s a blog, with all the baggage that involves.

It’s often a good read and (yes Ed), still the best blog of any team in the world. If you know of a better one, please let me know

Im surprised Geremi hasn’t had a mention, but hey maybe he was decent value if he left his bus pass behind for Mr Carr to use.

Worst blog signing? The ever present (in one form or another) blog chameleon The Rev. Ian Toon with his damning sentence of death on Eds labour of love, liberally greased with sycophantic and speciously targeted fawning. A disquieting pustule bulging to bursting point at any random moment.

Apart from that, a nice chap 🙂

    …buster…..

Ian Toon – stop you mischief making. you’ve mad your blog bed now you have to lie in it.
I see you are still plagiarising other folks effots. There was a discussion about north v south the other day and you posted something – without revealing you had copied it.
I believe it was an article by Gary Neville in the Telegraph from several years ago. Yet you made no reference that the words were not your own.
Posting it and then comments on it – fine but sheer copying and not revealing it’s true origins is very deceptive. No change there then.

If you cannot be bothered to post your own thoughts and then come on slagging off the blog it shows folk that you are just after mischief. Also shows you lack the capacity for a well constructed and informative piece.

You need to get to ASDA for a job man.

You’re being most unfair on Carver.

The man’s seen it all, done it all with some of football’s elite: ‘[Matt] Derbyshire has credited Carver with turning his career around using his experience of working with Sir Bobby Robson and coaching Alan Shearer.’

There you have it and we sacked him!

    Rafa bingo confirmed lineup:

    Darlow
    Yedlin – Hanley – Clark – Dummet
    Hayden – Shelvey
    Ritchie – Diame – Atsu
    Mitrovic

Going for a 1-4 win, hoping Mitro will break out of his scoring slump with a brace.

Off topic but just seen that Jack Wilshire is out if contract in the summer. Worth a punt? Him and Sturridge perhaps could solve a couple of issues if we go up.

With Swansea sitting 17 right now and very possibly going down this year, I am hoping Rafa makes a big push for Gylfi Sigurdson in the summer. Playing on a bottom 4 team, he has scored 8 goals and has 7 assists, and 34 shots on goal (2nd in BPL to Zlatan!) this season. He also played a major role in Iceland’s overachieving in last summer’s Euros. He also is a set piece wiz.

He is currently valued at about 15M £ and is 27 years old and in prime of his career. If Swansea does indeed get relegated and if (when?!) we get promoted I would rather see us make a move for Sigurdson over most of the other players we were linked with in recent transfer window. He won’t be cheap, but won’t be insanely expensive either!

    …one can dream.

Wouldn’t mind being n your neck of the woods this morning..
It’s 0 degrees here with a little snow covering, potential for flurries through the day, while you lot are baking in upside down land 🙂
Good job the toon aren’t at home this evening..there’d be a possibility of problems with the ‘approaches to the ground’…

    one fine day,
I saw a couple other bloggers mention Sigurdson during the January window, but knew with Swansea in a relegation struggle that they would never sell him at that time. But if they go down then the picture may change radically and hopefully will be on Rafa’s radar.
I think he can play at the 10 spot, which I still think is our biggest need, as neither Perez or Diame seem to fit that role very comfortably.

    Agree
A few of us on here last week were talking about the pickings of both relegated teams or decent players from the championship ,who have just missed out on getting promoted.
The lad from Fulham for example .
Sure Rafa may have a few gems in Spain also.
As long as they are not coming in via mondial I am more than happy with it.

    As with Swansea ..
Maybe shelvey can have a word about how good things can be up here … He could be our Christian Ericsson
Agree on diame looks amazing when he is up for it but can be a bit hit n miss
Perez may still still come good ,I think he is struggling with the lack of protection the so called flair players get more of the prem rather than the cloggers in the champs

Aye, if Shelvy got on well with Gylfi, then he might want to help recruit him to the Toon. Shelvy seems a completely refurbished player under Rafa and seems to love playing in front of the Newcastle fans. So would love to see him help bring in his ex-teammate in the summer window. To see the trio of Shelvy, Sigurdson and Gayle leading the Mags attack would be great! 🙂

Are there no depths you won’t sink to in your condemnation of me! Just a further pack of lies and pile. As it happens I did watch Sky’s “The Pundit” and am an admirer of Neville’s analytical skills.
Is it anonymity that brings out your most unpleasant side; yes unpleasantness not just towards me but towards those that question your right to be so self righteous and to feel that you can behave like the arbiter of what is and isn’t acceptable on a football blog. I really don’t mind bluntness or personal remarks. But sheer nastiness unaccompanied by any argument makes a dispiriting and, in the end, boring read. The whole blog space gets a nasty taste.
You have single handedly stopped many of those I thought were excellent bloggers posting on here! Jack Root, is just one example of someone who I thought was an interesting poster. But your constant suggestion that we were one and the same meant it wasn’t worth the aggravation and so he stopped making the effort. There are many others.
You crave attention and seek a profile as the seeker of truth so maybe you can share with the blog the real reason why you had to take early retirement?
