Wolves 0 Newcastle 1 – Full HD Video Highlights

Here are the video highlights of the 1-0 Newcastle win over Wolves this afternoon at Molineux.

That was our 11th away win of the season and just two short of the Newcastle record set by one of Kevin Keegan’s side.

The commentators seem to be biased for Wolves – are they Wolves supporters?

Mitro got the ball out of his feet and into the net very well.

It looked to me that Wolves were pressing him too hard to allow him to play the ball out. Long clearances weren’t pretty but in this game they were necessary.

Still don’t get why other teams have the loose balls falling their way so often, I don’t believe it’s anything to do with extra effort we put in plenty in most of our games.

Have to say that the ref did us slightly more favours than them for once.

WW, the biggest reason that I think Gayle might be brought back in as a number 10 is that the addition of his goals and movement behind and around a target man might well improve us. The other is that it allows us to make better use of the squad, that has been winning in his absence.

When we have no pace up top opponents can push higher up and close us down quicker meaning we can’t play out from the back plus our strikers since Gayle has been injured have been target men so long ball football is the norm

We play better without a target man imo

Also why would u want our best striker further away from goal? We’ve got Diane to play no 10 and Gayle is a poacher not a creator

Because the addition of Gayle along with Mitro or Murphy should provide more goals, and would allow us to continue to set up as we have recently, and not return to being so reliant on the Shelvey Gayle partnership. It allows more involvement from more players, at an attritional time of the season.

Jimmy if Mitrovic starts anymore games when Gayle is fully fit I’ll eat my hat and yours.

I would play Ritchie number 10 myself.

We were by far the top goal scorers in the league and our troubled patch has been while Shelvey/Gayle have been out I don’t see why we’d need to move our best scorer away from goal to help get more goals

Each to their own but that’s not for me I don’t see why we need a target man in the team, makes us worse imo and neither nitro or Murphy have taken their chance to shine in his absence so I don’t see the need to push either into the team…Diame is better than both for me

Well, Gayle played most of his football at Palace in a withdrawn role or in wider areas and Mitro and Murphy are in possession of the shirt and both International target men, and we have been winning. So I don’t think it’s that outlandish. As I’ve said, should it work, and why wouldn’t it, then we make better use of the squad at an attritional time of the season. But I will admit, I’ve wanted to see this all season, and haven’t, so it remains unlikely I suppose.

He’s the best we’ve got to play there though he holds up the play fairly well and when he gets on a run he scares teams he just doesn’t often get on a run

Nice win, without mitro in the 2nd half we looked pish. The lad didn’t half get slated today, the first one is never a card and the 2nd one was daft when being on a yellow. Well done to him for sorting his feet quickly and getting the goal though.

It was Dore to watch at times but the constant mitro bashing has to stop, it’s shocking to read…..and most of comes from those who refuse to be critical of Rafa when he gets it wrong.

The lad has had 2 red cards for us, he is a hot head and it’ll take time for him to mature away from that, some make it out as though he’s destined to get a red every game. He’s matured somewhat this season and good on him, he is targeted though so needs protection. Stonewall pen for the lad early on.

Healthy lead now so let’s keep going, the scapegoat was the match winner though!! He’s played a huge part in the last 2 games in which he’s directly influenced the result and helping us pick up 6 points

You can have real movement too, with the three in behind swapping positions all day long, so yeah you get Ritchie in the hole at times and Gayle wide. Three players in there comfortable on either flank and in behind the striker. Atsu, Gayle, Ritchie, Perez, Gouffran, Mitro and Murphy all contributing and better cover in the event of suspension and injury.

Live in the Midlands, just in from the match. Probably least effective or influential I’ve seen us play for a long long while, BUT our fans were truly fantastic! Never stopped cheering and singing; really got the Wolves backs up, and were the true heroes of the Molineux.

Another boring match, why do we spend the majority of the match defending, we suppost to be the best team in the championship, ffs, Brighton and Huddersfield are much better than us and a joy to watch, why becasue they play good attacking football, we play like Bolton under Sam Allardyce.

I’m not bothered if he is doing his “cheerleading” as long as we keep winning. We have a squad for good reason, I’d like to see both Gayle and mitro start at home but away from home just Gayle.

The cheerleader has given us breathing space though, so you summing up of him isn’t quite accurate.

BTW you stated earlier we are top scorers, which is very true and long may it continue. Most of our bigger winning margins have been without Gayle, but it’ll be nice to have the leagues top scorer back.

Sky pundits were comparing Mitro’s style of play to Costa’s. That’s not a bad thing, mind you I’d have been pretty p1ssed off if he had been sent off , have to admit I was shouting at the TV for Rafa to sub him before he scored.

just as well he didn’t hear me. 🙂

But no one will be criticising him when he’s back on the bench so everyone’s a winner

    OT,
Why has the Mitro bashing got to stop, it’s a blog and people say what they think. The guy is a liability, so what if it wasn’t a booking, the fact is rightly or wrongly he knew he was on a yellow when he made that ridiculous challenge on the keeper, there are players just as good as him who aren’t likely to blow a gasket at any given minute, I’ve backed him all the way but the bloke is an idiot and I won’t be sorry if he gets sold.

Against qpr dummett saved us twice, think that’s the game you are referring to, if he hadn’t have made them blocks / tackles wed have lost.

Next season if Gayle is upfront for us the crowd on here will turn him because he’ll not bang em in like he’s doing in the championship. It gets a bit boring reading the constant bashing, get behind the lads and get to the prem.

Didn’t ask for you to agree with it, just stated a fact, he got a very important assist and a goal in 2 one nil wins. I’d want Gayle back though as we need our squad without disrupting key players like Gayle, shelvey and Clark who is fast becoming a reliable member of the back 4

Just thought Darlow’s kicking was atrocious today and for several games now, and not even giving the appearance that we might want to show the possibility we might play from the back here and there. The other team just stacked the area where our target man and they won just about every long ball. At any rate, to paraphrase, horses for courses. 3 points, just would like to see us seize the scruff of the game against many of these teams.

On more positive notes Yedlin keeps getting better and he’s got a good partnership with Ritchie on the right plus he always offers an option for Shelveys passes

Clark is possibly the best CB in the league and Lascelles looked solid again…Darlow was catching everything going aswell and no flap this time I wonder if he has a concentration issue when he’s not faced with much though

He put faith in him and nearly got sent off but scored the goal that repaid that faith which got us 3pts.

I know you struggle with admitting that rafa can make mistakes which is why I asked the question. I knew you would never say rafa gets it wrong but by being critical of the mitro you are indirectly being critical of the decision to select him.

BTW it was a very good decision to take him off, and glad rafa did take him off

He picked him because he should have more to offer than Murphy due to his age mainly and we are light on the wings (plus Gouffran covers Dummett)

As for Perez well he’s been terrible recently he’s also in the number 10 role not striker

Yedlin done very well. They where trying to target him with diagonals all game and he stood up too it. I don’t mind Dummett myself but he had one of those games today where he hoofed it away every time he got it. I thought Clark was brilliant in the second half.

He did fluff us out of the cup, along with Rafa with the team he picked for that day. He’s a squad player and glad we have him as a squad player rather than not. If we are to go up everyone needs to contribute.

I haven’t stated he’s better than Gayle, I do however appreciate he has a job to do in helping us go up, sometimes he’ll need to do it off the bench like Norwich game when he made a big impact which Gayle thrived off, sometimes he’ll be needed when Gayle isn’t there. He’s filled the gap over the past 2 weeks and we’ve got the 6 points needed

Jail he had a right to go for that ball he’d have got abuse if he gave it up he seriously can’t win
he could have got seriously clobbered in that as well and that’s after coming back from a serious injury
I’d rather players like that at this club than ya wiji’s and siskos that’s for sure
