Here are the video highlights of the 1-0 Newcastle win over Wolves this afternoon at Molineux.
That was our 11th away win of the season and just two short of the Newcastle record set by one of Kevin Keegan’s side.
The commentators seem to be biased for Wolves – are they Wolves supporters?

I’m not saying it was wrong to pick him at all, I’m saying that it’s becoming apparent that the dunderhead can’t be trusted and I doubt very much he has a future under Rafa.

I don’t think any big man upfront has ever had a future under Rafa. Mitro will be gone and don’t think anyone will shed a tear, mitro will make it somewhere else in Europe or even the prem. If he goes good luck to him, rafa used his experience today because as much as mitro on a card is dangerous (once bitten twice shy) what makes it worse is the ref was targeting him.
The first one is never a card and the 2nd one when on a card is daft, without him on the pitch in the 2nd half we did look ineffective though.

Mitrovic was and is a complete waste of space. He’s a hot head I’ll give you that. What did he do last season apart from helping us get relegated. Yes he got the winner today and does assist occasionally but he cost millions, is he worth his price tag? I don’t think so. Rafa is im sure giving him every chance in the absence of Gayle. But we didn’t go down hill when he went off, we weren’t at the races all day. We ground out a result by some good defensive work.
Mitrovic and Colback are a liability in our team and they prove it every time they play.

Comment #47Mitro scored but was looking like a liability after half hr…..diame touch was terrible today….he looked like he was playing with a beach ball, the ball bouncing off all over the place and at the same time looked like he was playing with a tennis ball and tripping over it…..ritchie did whind me up the day….. wouldnt cross when could of and kept cutting in then out…then in…then out….ana he’s not the paciest player and maybe a chance number ten maybe an option….but after them moans… We did win,so shouldn’t complain to much…defence looked fairly strong and lascelles gave a captains performance….all and all played average and won tough…something we haven’t looked like we were able to do,so its good to see.

In the PL we will need a squad, Perez is liked by rafa, I have yet to see why based on this seasons performances from the lad but he’s trying unlike some of the ones we’ve moved on (janmaat and sissoko to name a few)

We will need a better squad than what we have now and both of them are on the chopping block
And Rafa will be ruthless in the Summer if he stays

Comment #50Watched the mackem game today and omg what a bunch of cun£s, Southampton were excellent but they strolled this 90 mins at a canter, the Mackems bear Palace as we know 4-0, it’s frightening how deplorable these two teams are, I mean we go up n the mackems and big sham go down. No tempting fate here, they are the pits.

Liability or not we got 3 points from his goal. We defended a lead given to us by a liability.
Im not his biggest fan but understand hes a young man whos a bit too desperate to perform, i dont think he can handle the competition and its the first time hes having to do it in his career. It’s easy to sit and scapegoat players like him, but he’s got an assist and a goal in 2 one nil wins. Liability has played a massive part in getting us 6 points. Bit part players such as mitro will always have on and off performances over 90mins or in his case less mins.
They need game time, match sharpness. As for last season I don’t blame a kid coming into a league in his debut season as a main factor in going down. Mitro was far from the reason we went down….plenty of others to blame for that including the owner.

Last one before I go, a player doesn’t dictate his price tag, if a club is stupid enough to pay money for players like sissoko then that’s the clubs fault not the players fault.
13m / 15m is peanuts in today’s market, how you can blame a player for what a club pays for him is laughable.

Rafa may not be here when the window shuts in September but we will see. Lads done very little all season and hasn’t improved at all under Rafa so I wouldn’t be so sure we don’t have an unlimited squad registration next season so there will be a fair few shifted to make room for better regardless of manager

If Mitro could keep a calm head and use his brain instead of being a bull in a China shop he might move his career forward.
But he cost millions and is paid a lot of money for what? Yes he’s young but so are loads of quality players.
Yes he scored the winner but he was very lucky to be on the pitch. We could easily of been down to ten men, Rafa could see what would have happened so replaced him. Shame you can’t trust a so called top player.

Comment #57Just watched the replay of Mitro’s yellow. Of course he pushed back – like what big strikers do – but a yellow?
And
A Palace fan on Radio 5’s phone in blamed Pardwhos buys for their plight.
Mmm, maybe Ashley was right in denying him free rein over transfers? But, two wrongs etc

13 to 15 million isn’t a fortune in today’s market but he sure ain’t worth no where near it. Not his fault but our poor scouting system before Rafa came in i suppose for paying way over the odds for a chancer with resale in mind.

Comment #61Although mitro was a liability once booked and most fans would of been brickin it thinkin he was ganna get sent off…..his yellow card was soft and tbh thought the ref was erratic all day….wish i could trust the bloke but u seen Rafa brickin on the touchline and frustrated at the fact he wasn’t using his loaf…..i dont hate mitro but unless things with him i believe he may be sold in the summer…..but see where we are at the end of the season i spose.

Comment #62Today was excited to see the Lads live on the Tele here in the states but boy were they were hard to watch.
Mitro was hard to watch and all fairness was lucky not to be sent off for what would have been his 2nd yellow in what little over 30mins. In fairness though his first yellow was questionable although he should have got one earlier then that when he raised his elbow into defenders face while he had his back to him. Did not play well but was his lucky day somehow was still on pitch and scored the game winner.
We had a good chance early when Ritchie laid a pass perfectly into a running Colback into the box while goalie was running out to cut angle but Colback blew it who would have guessed.
Wolves best chance was in first half on what I think was set piece if not mistaken ( boy have we been shaky on set-pieces defensively and this goes. A k to the preseason) when ball fell to a sliding in Stearman and he somehow put it over the net big let off for us.
Most frustrating thing was when we were up 1-0 and as Wolves kept sending men forward we never looked a threat to counter it was just get it out and get back in shell and never was this more evident then on a corner I believe in what was 91st or 92nd min and Darlow gets up quickly and rolls it out to Yedlin quickly to what I thought was going to be counter or at least work it to corner flag of Wolves but instead we gave it right back within 15-20 seconds this had me fuming.
All in all was not thrilled with what I saw as far as play but result is all that matters and that’s what counts but we need to get better or we could possibly slip out of top 2 imo hope not though. HWTL In Rafa I Trust

With a world class coach such as Rafa should we not be confident of crushing Wolves ?

Comment #64Every team in this league are like Wimbledon when they were in the premiere league, you can’t play pretty football against them, I know it ain’t good to watch but the style we play works in this league with the player we have.

Comment #65Stan; We would all like that and I would like to win the lottery every time I play it. Join the real world and not the world of dreams. Hard, dirty work with a little inspiration (10%?) is the recipe for success.
Saturday’s result and performance showed that we have a desire and will to win .

Comment #67There are time when you feel like you are talking to yourself on this blog. At this time of night I probably am.
Although it it may not be very late in the USA.
Shocking with the whale beachings in New Zealand. Kudos to the attempts by people trying to help them.
Puts life into a different perspective, I’d rather see them survive than see us promoted.
Anyway had a few celebration whiskeys for our win so I’m off to bed. good night all.

Comment #68Stan – of course we should be crushing Championship level teams, but you have to remember the old cliche of the opposition upping their games against us as if it were a classic giant killing cup game. Wolves will be more determined to get a Premier League level scalp than playing against the likes of Reading or Huddersfield.

Just a couple of points to make regarding that post
1….as at 7.30pm ssturday night, Brighton and Huddersfield are NOT better tgan us. We are top, thry are not.
2….It is a results game and you can play like fancy dans and lose or grind out a win when not playing well…….Remember 1995
3….I see Brighton and Huddesfield top strikers in Mureay and Wells both played and scored whilst our top scorer has been out for several games and is still not fit……ywt we have won without him.
4….Top goalscorers, least conceded, best goal difference…….and you are still complaining. Howay man……..dod off back to the Swansea blogs if you want pretty but ineffective

Comment #73BTW I agree it’s the price to pay, with fame.
So, my opinion. I liked what I saw of Gayle before he came, was always surprised re his usual position – bench.
But, I think, the twenty goal numbers won’t continue. When opponents corner and bully him, he’s less effective. So, then we’ll start blaming him. Think cisse.
He’ll need a big partner who can absorb some of that. If we won’t play two up front, then turn from a 9 to 10 and vice versa, depending on play.
But keep Mitro on the pitch with him.

Comment #74Great result yesterday away from home. We’re steadily keeping it going, and another clean sheet which is nice.
Whether we are doing good, bad or indifferently, nobody can currently match our points accumulation, so whatever tactical processes we still have to iron out, it has been beyond the capability of the teams below us, and that is pleasing.
Winning every single game and playing flawlessly isn’t going to happen, but if we attempt it, then we have a very good chance of doing well – just like we’ve been doing.
