Rafa – Gayle’s Training Sessions Have Been Brilliant

Dwight Gayle may get a start tonight at Carrow Road after Rafa has given a glowing report of what Dwight offers Newcastle that Aleksandar Mitrovic and Daryl Murphy don’t.

Mitro and Murphy are more like target men, while Dwight is fast and can get in behind defenders and create chances.

It’s also heartening that Rafa says that Dwight has not only trained fully this week but has looked brilliant in training.

Dwight Gayle – in training

This is some of what Rafa has said when asked if Newcastle had missed Dwight – as reported in the Shields Gazette:

“Not in terms of what we were doing, because still we were winning games.”

“But the way that we were playing has changed, because he is different to Murphy or Mitrovic.”

“Daryl and Mitro, they were scoring goals and playing well with this style, but he’s different.”

“Dwight is someone who can run behind defenders, with quick movements, and they’re more of a target-man type.”

“Dwight has scored goals at home because he has very clever movements.”

“But away, because he has pace and has more space, he is even more important because he can pass defenders and he can be a threat all the time.”

“He’s in the squad, and we have to see.” “We will see how he feels and then we will decide.” “He is fully ready.”

“He has been training all week and doing everything.”

“When you have a player coming back, then you have to be sure that his sprints, change of direction, shooting are all OK and he has been doing everything.”

“He’s fine and his training sessions have been brilliant.”

Rafa could start Dwight at Carrow Road tonight although he may prefer to start Mitrovic who he has praised for his performance in the first half on Saturday, when he scored the winning goal just before half time.

It’s going to be a tough game tonight.

    Rafa Bingo Line-up:

    Darlow
    Yedlin—–Lascelles—–Clark—–Dummett
    Shelvey—–Hayden
    Richie—–Diame—–Gouffran
    Mitrovic

    1-5 Toon!!

Would like to go with Gayle and Atsu but think they will appear in second half!

That’s right Rafa, you keep em guessing. But we can safely assume Dwight won’t be starting tonight,I should think.
Rafa’s not the type of manager to risk a hamstring recurrence in our goal machine at this stage of the season, with the importance of the next few games we have coming up. And starting him twice in a week when he’s coming back would be a huge risk.
It’s a big help that Mitro has just hit a little bit of goalscoring form.

The chap from Chico Ca is right.

Rafa always talks up players who won’t start.

Mitro and Gayle have both been talked up this week.

Also remember Murphy played more than 200 times for Norwich’s derby rivals Ipswich Town !

    Just saying like.

Nice to see little Vurn back (even if he is just the ball boy )

Well We cannot be accused of only singing while we’re winning! Watched most of first half, then onto Toon game, but made mistake of watching last 5 at half time in the football!
