It’s Getting Closer At The Top Of The Championship

With both Newcastle and Brighton only drawing last night and Huddersfield, Reading, Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United all winning, it’s starting to get close at the top of the Championship.

Newcastle are now just 5 points ahead of 3rd placed Huddersfield who have won their last five league games although in that time-frame they have gained only one point on the Magpies, who have won four and drawn two.

Next up are Aston Villa at home next Monday night and they have lost their last four games, so it could be a bit of a banana skin game for us, but we must win it and hopefully Dwight Gayle will start that game up front.

The bad news last night was our pitiful defending in that first half and the good news was that after conceding two poor  goals to put the home side 2-1 up, we came back well and showed fight, guts and spirit and deserved the 2-2 draw and could have even won the game.

The poor defending was both a surprise and a disappointment after the way the lads had been brilliant in defense last Saturday at Wolves in the 1-0 win.

Rafa will want to see a much better defensive performance in our next game against Aston Villa and then we are again at home to Bristol City the following Saturday.

Here’s the position at the top of the league and of course things can change every week.

I guess the vote doesn’t count as most of us didn’t see the game. I gave MOM to Mitro, just to excite some people 😉

A good draw, judging from the chances we had a good game, so pleased.

We can condemn people, darlow, Ritchie, Mitro, but that would not be right. Darlow has been solid. Ritchie just tries and tries and has scored many times. Mitro gets himself in good positions, makes chances, assists, holds, only young, has been good, a very good player who needs a run and luck. And people to give him a break 😉

I see last night had it all on the blog, even a cabaye debate. I won’t shy away: overrated 🙂

What a spectacular volley by Lascelles to equalise.
