On February 2nd Ayoze Perez did not have a very good game at all against QPR and missed a few chances and the fans were a little upset at the 23 year-old’s poor performance in the 2-2 draw, when we scored a late own goal to throw away 2 valuable points.
But let’s give credit to the forward who had a good game last night at Norwich and got Newcastle off to a great start with an excellent opportunist goal after just 23 seconds.
Unfortunately the games also ended up 2-2 but it was a much better performance from the lads against a much better side than QPR.
Ayoze Perez – after scoring last night after 23 seconds
But how often have we mentioned a good performance from Perez following a poor performance and vice versa?
Too many times – and it’s an area of his game he must improve, but the Spaniard is definitely a talented and gifted player, if he can become more consistent.
Perez is our Man of the Match for last night’s 2-2 at Norwich with 30% of the vote.
He is followed by Jonjo Shelvey on 15% and improving right-back DeAndre Yedlin is third with 13%.
Perez can look at the progress of Jonjo Shelvey this season as an example, since the former Liverpool player has become a lot more consistent with good performances in almost every game these days.
At the end of the game last night when we were going for the winner, it was still a decent point for the Magpies, but once again we had enough chances to have won this game.
Next up are home games against Aston Villa and Bristol City next Monday night and the following Saturday.
With Huddersfield Town coming up like a steam train with five league wins in a row – we have to start and keep winning games.
