Villa Manager – We Need A Result At Newcastle

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce knows all about Newcastle of course, since he’s a Geordie, but Aston Villa are not doing well and they have lost seven of their last eight games in all competitions.

They are in a big slump in 16th place in the Championship.

So Steve doesn’t really care about the performance of his side at James’ Park on Monday night – Villa need a result and preferably a win.

Steve Bruce – we need a result at Newcastle

Aston Villa are in 16th place with 36 points from their 31 games with 8 wins and they are now a full 30 points behind Newcastle. who are currently top of the league.

This is also a very vital game for us too of course – because we need a win after dropping 2 points at Norwich City.

Both Huddersfield and Reading gained 2 points on us on Tuesday and the Terriers are only 5 points behind us in 3rd place..

This is what Steve Bruce has said in the press today:

“I’m not bothered about performances – we need a result.”

“It will be a great occasion. It’s live on TV, and there’ll be 50-odd thousand there.”

“Some would say this fixture should be in the Premier League, but there you go.”

“They have done very well under Rafa Benitez,” “They have a settled team and a settled position. They will be difficult to beat.”

Aston Villa have a few injury problems and they will be without both James Bree and Gabby Agbonlahor for the game on Monday.

As we said earlier, we need a win on Monday night and then another one at home to Bristol City a week come Saturday as we try to get promoted and straight back to the Premier League.

Imagine if Villa dropped another tier, sure none of us would shed any tears.

Could still happen, especially if we give them a stuffing.

Think they’ll be just about ok, as even with how shite they’ve been in 2017, those behind have barely made any ground.

These next few weeks are season defining.

    Villa (h)
    Bristol City (h)

    Then:

    Brighton (a)
    Huddersfield (a)

    Reading (a)

    Takes us to March 7th.

Need 2 wins in those home games to make the buffer a little more comfortable as Brighton play Reading Reading vs Huddersfield before our away tests.

    YUUUUUUUUGE!
