Benitez Retains Confidence In This Player

After the 2-2 draw at Norwich on Tuesday night Rafa Benitez praised the performance of Aleksandar Mitrovic after he had a decent game.

But Newcastle still missed the chances that could have given us a great 3 points after being 2-1 down after only 17 minutes through two individual defensive errors.

It was also great to see Dwight Gayle finally return to the side and if Dwight can reach the form that has already given him 20 Championship goals this season, we may start winning games by more than just the single goal.

That would be good.

Rafa is well known for protecting his players and having faith in them and this is what he said after the game at Norwich about Mitro:

“I am happy with the way he was playing.”

“His contributions were quite good, Ayoze was the same.” “A lot of players were involved.”

“Christian Atsu came on and he was involved too.”

“You can see the team want to win and that is a very positive sign for our fans.”

With Mitro getting more playing time we are hoping he can convert more of the chances he gets because obviously he’s still a  good player who is maybe lacking  a little confidence at the moment.

Newcastle are at the top of the Championship at the moment although we are a little worried about Huddersfield now only 5 points behind us in the league after winning five of the their last six games including home wins against Leeds and Brighton – and they seem to be coming up fast.

That means we must keep winning games and hopefully we can win the next two games which are at home against Aston Villa and Bristol City.

It would be simply terrific if we can do that!

    From NUFC.com
“No less than eleven different former Magpies were offered as answers, Geremi and Cacapa sharing the bronze medal position of incorrect ones”
