Can Newcastle Extend Unbeaten Run To 5 Wins In 7 Games?

The last time we were beaten in the league was that shock 1-0 loss at Blackburn Rovers on Monday January 2nd, when we missed so many chances in  the first half, it was almost criminal.

We lost pitifully since that game at Oxford United 3-0, in what was an embarrassing defeat and very poor second half display, essentially from a second eleven.

But since the Blackburn defeat we have four wins and two draws for 14 points  in our last six league games – a decent 14 points.

Steve Bruce – Aston Villa manager

If we can maintain that average per game (2.33) over the last 15 games of the season we’ll get another 35 points and finish the season on 101 points since we are currently on 66 points.

That would be good.

🙂

But first things first and we must beat Aston Villa on Monday night in front of a sell-out crowd of over 52,000.

Howay The Lads!!

Surely we can beat villa on our own turf / they are in total disarray and have lost 5 in a row … which probably means a home defeat 🙂

The crowds at Villa Park have been pitiful.

I just hope our fans vociferocity (?) doesn’t inspire them !

Can Newcastle extend unbeaten run to seven games would make more sense.

Although I completely understand if Jail wrote the headline. He’s a bit dim.

I think we must take maximum points in these next two games like. If we can remain unbeaten in the following three games we should be pretty much assured of promotion. It probably won’t go as swimmingly as that though.

107 would be very nice as far as my bet is concerned. A Dwight Gayle hatrick wouldn’t go a miss either, that Tammy Abrahams is getting a bit too close.

It’s a good job our many-times-decorated manager sees the virtues of having Jack Colback this squad / team.
I have to giggle every time I read the opinions, repeated ad nauseam, of several bloggers on here who have dug their trench where Colback is concerned, and come hell or high water are damn well gonna stay in it, no matter what he does or how well we are doing in terms of the promotion goal, as a team.
I respect everyone’s right to express an opinion, but howay lads, are you saying you know better than the manager? Because Rafa is happy to pick him when he’s fit, and rotate him with Hayden.
Upgrade, sell, retain next season? That’s a very different issue, which will be looked at in the summer I’m sure.

    Jibberish,
I’ve never been in a position to have a ST before now and even now after missing over 60% of games you have to ask is it worth it, I’ve always been a member and bought my merchandise from the club shop, at least until Ashley turned on us, you’ve got no right at all to call me a plastic fan while you sit on your fat arse steaming games week in week out.

    Darlow
    Yedlin Lascelles Clark Dummett
    Mbemba Shelvey
    Ritchie Perez Atsu
    Gayle

Reckon Colback and Gouffran will start though

In principle it’s a canny idea, bit of a crucial stage of the season to change things now with no need though. It’s well known that I think Colback is a good partner for Shelvey in the middle.
Any sign of Mbemba being tried in training or reserve games though? That’s the time to try it out, and going by AFCON is not a reliable comparison in my opinion.

There’s an interesting match taking place at the moment in Moscow (it’s 14.25 there ) Lokomotiv v Beijing (friendly) – the teams read like the cream of Euro footy 7 years ago.

Could this signify a shift in world footy focus or are they always going to piggy back on the European game ?

Unfortunately it will be colback partnering Shelvey in the middle on Monday. Hopefully Atsu gets a start and Ritchie avoids a yellow.

    sitc,
Aye, I said the other day there’s too much at stake to experiment with formations, there must have been something seriously messed up in Tiotes head to pretty much down tools, he could have got stuck in made that DM spot his own and then got a move to a much better club at the end of the season, being millionaires so young must affect sime players the wrong way.

Sitc – there’s a choice between a tactical selection, a ice from simply what you have available and of course a split between the two.

I think Jack Colback is of the latter variety. I think it’s a given that he’s kind of horses for courses and if we had the chance would buy someone a little more er… skilled and multi-disciplined for his position. The alternatives atm are much of a muchness. He does OK when we need to confound the opposition midfield a bit when hanging on to a lead but he hasn’t the patience or wherewithal to handle a constant battering without slipping up at some point. And when we do play him it’s patently obvious there is little vision or creativity from his position, sadly. He is definitely high on the list of promotion replacements if we design to stay in the PL.

Kindly give your definition of a

That is a more considered evaluation 🙂
..and one I can’t argue too much with to be honest. If he’s the best of what we have it for right here right now though,it would be nice to see fans unite behind him and the team instead of swooping in if Colback makes a foul, gleefully declaring for the umpteenth time he always ‘gives silly fouls away…gets booked…makes a sideways pass…’ and so on, as if it’s some kind of fans’ badge of honour to make sure you said it first any given hour.

although Colback has his critics in the ground the abuse is far greater on here
maybe he’s not the best but he’s what we have at the moment and Rafa keeps picking him in front of the other candidates we have for that job
which tells me he’s the one Rafa thinks is best suited for the job at the moment

What’s this about putting Jib “it’s a shootout” Jibberishs’ head in a noose and placing him on the edge of a precipice.
Sounds like a good idea – would this be a free event or attendance by ticket only.

Jib it is cup day today – 5th round – in the event of games not being settled at full time there will have to be a replay.
No penalty shoot outs after 90 mins.

Apologies to other posters who know the rules but a few weeks ago -league cup – Jib said there would be a penalty shoot out after 90 mins. Clearly revealing his football credentials -zippo/ zilch.

Jib – just seen on the telly an advert which was promoting the Ladies Netball Super League – you need to check this out -if you have not already done so.
Change your game man -before it is too late.
