Newcastle Lining Up Top Young England Striker For The Summer

There’s a report in the Mail today that Newcastle are lining up 19 year-old Chelsea striker Dominic Solanke, who has played for all the England Youth sides and 3 times for the England U21 side, even though he doesn’t turn 20 until September.

His contract at Chelsea runs out at the end of June and it looks like he wants to leave Chelsea at that time.

There are a number of Premier League clubs said to be interested in signing Solanke including Newcastle, who are reported to be willing to offer the teenager wages of  £35K/week to join them when we hope we are a Premier League clubs again.

Dominic Solanke – 19 year-old Chelsea striker

If we don’t get promoted this summer of course none of this will happen.

The other clubs interested in the teenager include Sunderland, Everton and Manchester City.

It seems as though his manager Antonio Conte thinks he could leave.

Conte said this when asked if he thought the youngster would leave the club in the summer:

“I think this is his will,” “This question is better to ask him.”

“I think for a young player to stay in a great team is a great opportunity.”

“We have to respect every decision” “Obviously I have spoken with him to try and understand his will.”

“I repeat we must respect every decision.”

“His contract expires in June. I wish for him and his family in the future. I am not sure.”

While Solanke usually plays as a striker he can also play on either wing and also as an attacking midfielder so he’s a versatile player too.

He joined Chelsea in 2004 as a six year-old and came through their Youth Academy so the London club would be due some compensation for the young player, who currently stands 6ft 1ins tall.

It would seem Solanke is exactly the type of top young player Newcastle want to sign so that Rafa Benitez and his coaching team can develop them into first team players for Newcastle in the future.

Dominic is certainly a top young England player – there’s no doubt about that.

    Mr Tuff

So no extra time in today’s FA cup matches!!

During the Olympics, I really enjoyed the Ladies beach volleyball.

And I remember one time chancing upon a naked ladies yoga programme on TV, could never find it again! 🙂

He’s demanding 50 grand a week apparently and Chelsea have told him to ferk off by all accounts and rightly so in my opinion.

Jib……. From an earlier thread. I found your post about Placcy Fans very poignant and loyal to our great city. Your literacy skills are going to waste on here.

I don’t see how you can accuse Jail of fitting into the Placcy Fan category. The guy eats, sleeps and breathes NUFC. You’re a bit out on that one IMHO.

Being linked with this player doesn’t look great for Armstrong. I personally rate Armstrong higher but saying that, solanke is a very good young player and a very clinical finisher. If we are too sign anyone from Chelsea it should be Charly Musonda.

Betty are you aware of the mocking footy chant directed at Man Yoo and Chelski fans ?

“You only sing when your’e winning”

That sums up placcy fans to me.

Jail is Mr Buoyant at the moment because we have a worldy manager in Rafael Benitez.

If things went tits up – he’d be off like a shot – whereas Bobby Bee , myself and many others on here would just grit our teeth and get on with it.

What on earth has a mentally challenged Swansea fan who’s never been to a football game in his life got to do with someone being a plastic fan.

So jail it’s only now you are a season ticket holder.

    Ha ha ha

You couldn’t make it up, probably been to more games than you.

    Jibberish,
What exactly would you get on with, streaming games on your kodi while spending your money on flights to Benidorm. I’ve been going since the highs of Arthur Cox and the lows of Ossie Ardiles so ram ya theories.

Some fans already want the Leicester boss out, shocking, how about they have a go at the players, so easy to blame the manager when things go tits up, be careful what you wish for Leicester, some fans wanted Pardew out which they got and ended up with carver, yeah great move.

Jib – surely you are getting your plastic and fair weather fans mixed up.

A plastic fan is one who pretends to be something to get a sense of belonging perhaps. Welsh for example.

Fair weather fans only turn up when times are good.

But either way someone who supports a team has the means and opportunity to attend games but CHOOSES not to doesn’t really have much weight in a discussion about what makes a fan a fan?

If Dominic Solanke goes to Liverpool and, although not a necessary consequence, Daniel Sturridge leaves, it will be interesting who becomes available at that club. That is as far as our aspirations will be, a knock offs knock off, going cheap.
