Rafa Benitez still has a job to do at Newcastle this season with 15 games left and it looks like another 10 wins will secure our promotion back to the Premier League – but getting those wins will not be easy.
But it’s within our grasp and hopefully Rafa will inspire our players to go for it and start winning some games on the trot as we get closer to securing that vaunted promotion back to England’s top division – the most popular sports league in the world.
Rafa is a real team player and was said to be happy with the staff he inherited at Newcastle when he arrived last year.
Rafa Benitez – during 1-0 win against Derby County
Rafa has been interviewed in the Chronicle today and he has paid tribute to all his staff, who are pushing in the same direction – towards the Premier League.
This is what Rafa has said:
“The only thing I can do is praise my squad, staff and players – everybody here.”
“Everybody is pushing in the same direction and the players realise that if they stick together that is the best way to perform and win games, if we want to stay where we are.”
“There’s still a long way to go, we have to carry on with the same mentality and same ideas.”
Benitez also identifies with the fans and the things he wants to achieve at Newcastle – make Newcastle into a great team again and win trophies – is exactly what our fans have been yearning for over the last 48 years, since we last won a trophy back in 1969.
Back then there were no such things as PCs or cell phones and people did strange things – like talking to each other while waiting for the bus.
But we really had all we needed – we had sliced bread.
🙂
This man is the perfect manager for a club like Newcastle United and if left alone and given full support by the club – he can most definitely get the job done.
Hope we can the win tomorrow night against Aston Villa.

Comment #2We obviously want Rafa to stay beyond the rest of the season but I’m still anxious and not taking it for granted that he will. Is the support and love from the fans enough? There’s no way to know for sure what’s going on inside his head or what’s really going on behind the scenes regarding promises made about transfer funds and the level of control Rafa has. If we make it to the Premier League and Rafa is our manager for the opening game I’ll be bloody relieved.

Re: Sissoko….but we’re not bitter, right? 🙂
Wrong! No doubt he’ll have an excuse as to why he’s not exactly hitting the heights now he’s playing at a level his limitless ability deserves.

That’s what you do when you are one on one with the opposition goalie.

Comment #6A new record, nine different winners for the QPR game in a particular order,
chicousa, JamesToon, Mag52, Springy, Budge 123, Essex Geordie Bill, Mister Tuff, dem and legolas. I’m not doing the Oxford game and I’m pretty sure no one put Hanley in for Derby so skipping that one unless anyone claims different

Comment #9I think Rafa would stay even if we weren’t promoted – provided he felt he was getting sufficient backing from Ashley.

The renewal letters used to arrive hours after the last home game when I had my previous one. Been going to matches on an ad hoc basis for a while until this season..
