Rafa – We Have To Improve More – But Overall I’m Happy

Rafa is a manager who is a perfectionist in that he wants to improve every player in the squad and he wants to improve the side in general after every game, by analyzing what the lads did well and what they didn’t do well.

By that means he hopes the players will improve and it’s worked out well this season with a lot of players having become better players under the tutelage of the Spanish manager.

We are back in second place 2 points behind Brighton after Saturday’s games, but we have a chance to go back to the top tonight against Aston Villa, but to do that we have to win the game at St. James’ Park.

Rafa Benitez – Newcastle manager – we are improving

This is what Rafa has said today as reported in the Shields Gazette:

“We analyse every game.” “Everything that happens, we try to analyse.”

“Maybe we see some things that you cannot work out in a week, but there are other things that you can change in a day.”

“Then there are things like the incident that happened with Karl Darlow, and you cannot do anything about that.”

“You just keep reminding him of what he has been doing well.”  “As long as he keeps on doing the things he was doing right, he will be fine.”

“It will not be a problem.” “We analysed the first goal, and maybe we should have played it a bit more simple and not put ourselves under pressure.”

“We analyse everything, and you have to train with these things in mind.”

“You have to coach the players every day, but overall, we have scored more goals than anyone and we have conceded fewer goals than anyone,”

“That doesn’t mean we are perfect, but we are a little bit better than the others.” “We are making mistakes, but we are improving.”

“We have to improve more, but overall I am happy with the way we are doing things.”

It looks like Dwight Gayle will come back into the side for tonight’s game after recovering from his hamstring injury, but it may take him a little time to become sharp again.

Here’s the team Rafa could start tonight with both Dwight Gayle and Mo Diame coming back into the side.

Every keeper is allowed one disastrous game a season Tsunki, just hope this is his last one. Either way, he’s still the keeper I am happiest to see in the nets this season.

Aye G it’s a tough job at the back especially when your team mates just in front of you don’t do theirs so well. There’s been a few comments about having Elliot in goal if we get back to the prem but I seem to remember Darlow doing very well in our relegation run in. For me the number one now, years of improvement ahead of him, a few corners can be rounded off for sure but has more potential than the guy in not even going to mention.
