Newcastle Could Make These Two Signings Before July

If Newcastle get promoted this season and back to the Premier League then it seems extremely likely that Rafa Benitez will once again make some big changes to his squad in order to make it Premier League ready.

Mike Ashley will make some big money available to the Spanish manager so that he can do that and it’s also likely Rafa will allow a number of players currently on Newcastle’s books to leave the club.

A number of players have their contracts coming to an end in June and will be released and some of those include Sammy Ameobi and Haris Vuckic, but two players we expect Rafa to keep on the books are Vurnon Anita and Yoan Gouffran.

Yoan Gouffran and Vurnon Anita

Vurnon has proved he is a good utility player who Rafa has turned into an excellent right-back but Vurnon can also play at left back and in central midfield so in that sense he’s a valuable player for us.

He has made 23 appearances this season.

Rafa has complimented the Dutchman a number of times this season and he is just returning from his ankle injury and should see some action shortly.

Yoan Gouffran has had his best season ever at Newcastle and has scored a valuable 7 goals for us in his 33 appearances.

All season Yoan has been  a starter on the left wing for Newcastle and like Vurnon Anita he carries out Rafa’s instructions to the letter.

The Frenchman has been a revelation for us this season and we are hoping he will get a two year extension to his contract and help us finish in the top of half of the Premier League over the next two seasons.

Anita and Gouffran have earned extensions to their contracts because of their good play since Rafa came in as the manager.

Contract negotiations  were opened with both players in January and we hope both of them will still  be with us come September.

What do you think?

The good thing about Rafa is in the league he never underestimates the opposition.

Plenty of time to bring on non regulars when the game has been put to bed.

This is Bristol City’s miserable league form
    L L L W L L L L L L L L D W D L L
but Rafa will still put out what he considers to be his strongest formation.

I must have just imagined the horror show home game against Blackburn after Rafa made 6 changes in the pursuit of League Cup success, and lost – how remiss of me.
