The home crowds at St James’ Park this season have been amazing and the average home attendance now stands at 51,062 and that’s only about 1300 short of capacity and higher than last year.
So the fans have really supported what Rafa Benitez is trying to do at the club – transform the club from top to bottom.
And the fabulous display on Monday night by the Gallowgate Flags group saw an enormous flag of the manager displayed for the very first time.

Newcastle midfielder Mo Diame has been interviewed in the local papers today and he talks about the fantastic support both home and away coming from the Geordie fans.
Here’s some of what he said as reported in the Chronicle:
“It is just amazing,” “The Newcastle fans are amazing.”
“Even when we play away it feels like we are at home because the fans are always pushing us.”
“For me this club has the best atmosphere.” “The West Ham fans were not bad, too, but the Newcastle fans are first class.”
“We are going to go for the three points on Saturday.” “We don’t want to lose any points at home.”
“We have to work hard. Every single game is a battle so we are ready to fight again. The team is still focused the team are still working hard.”
“We are closer to the finish line every game.” “After every game it is one game closer.”
“It is going to be amazing,” “We are looking forward to this.”
“But let’s see what happens first. We are going to fight until the end.”
Mo’s right that we are closer to the finish line after every game and we are closer to winning the Championship with every 3 points we can put up on the board.
We need another win tomorrow against Bristol City – come hell or high water.
