Our Man Of The Match Needed This Performance

Christian Atsu got a rare start on Saturday against Bristol City on the left wing in place of Yoan Gouffran and the Ghanaian International produced a Man of the Match performance for the Magpies when the lads fought back for a 2-2 draw in the second half after giving up two very poor goals in the first half.

Christian – like most of the Newcastle players – was much better in the second half and was a power down the wing with his skill and speed.

It’s still touch and go whether Rafa Benitez will make the deal permanent this summer for Atsu, although Christian certainly wants to join Newcastle from Chelsea.

Of course for that to happen Newcastle will need to be a Premier League side next season, so we cannot have too many more slip-ups like yesterday’s – if we are to get that promotion.

Atsu got 34 % of the vote and had a good game.

Next in the voting is Jonjo Shelvey (26%) who seems to be always in the top three as he too was a force in that second half and he was responsible for the own goal that got us to 2-1.

Matt Ritchie (18%) and Ciaran Clark (9%) are next in the voting with both having good second halves and Ciaran getting the equalizer after 82 minutes.

But just like against Norwich City, we had chances to win it in the last several minutes of the game, but failed to do so.

It was another 2 points dropped for Newcastle.
