It’s no secret that Christian Atsu just loves it at Newcastle and after he had brilliantly set up the winner with Matt Ritchie for Ayoze Perez he went berserk.
The Spanish forward took the chance with aplomb that sent Newcastle fans around the world jumping off their seats in ecstasy – Christian must be a happy man indeed today.
He certainly looked it as he went into raptures as Newcastle dramatically and deservedly took all 3 points with two late goals and a mammoth performance at the Amex Stadium against a very good Brighton team.
Christian Atsu – excellent game on Tuesday night – two assists
You have to feel a bit for the excellent Brighton fans but we’ve been through that heartbreak a few times this season too.
Atsu was our Man of the Match for the second game running and he seems to be coming into top form at the right time.
Certainly if he keeps playing like he has been since he returned from the African Cup of Nations he will be a permanent Newcastle player in the summer and he and the fans will be very happy about that.
This is what Christian has said in the local papers today – as reported specifically in the Chronicle:
“I love playing in big games, and you can see the rest of the team feel the same way too,”
“That was a big game, and there is nothing better than coming out of the end of a game like that with all of the points.”
“When you are at a big club like Newcastle, you have to show your talent in big games.”
“They are going to be the matches that decide your season, and so far, we have done well in the really big matches.”
“I remember being told from a very early stage in my career: ‘It is the big games where you see the good players.’
“If you are a good player, you look forward to the chance to influence a game like that.” “And as you have seen all season, our team is full of good players.”
“This is for the fans. They want us to be on top, and now we’re back on top of the league,” the on-loan Chelsea winger added.
“But we are going to prepare for the next game and we can’t get ahead of ourselves.”
“We try to win each and every game and now we have 12 games left to focus upon.”
“For all the players, the game ahead is the most important and the most difficult game.”
“We are really working hard and when the day comes you will see how we approach the game.”
“We lost two points at home to Bristol City, and we knew after that we couldn’t afford to throw any more points away.”
“Some people might have thought a draw would have been a good result against Brighton.”
“But we knew we wanted to win and that is why we kept on pushing right to the end.”
“We will be fighting in every single game we have left now.”
“The Brighton game is finished, so we move on and look ahead to Huddersfield.”
Those are really good words from Christian who seems just a great guy and loves the passion he sees and experiences at Newcastle.
Let’s hope he can have another big game for us on Saturday in the late game at Huddersfield.
That game will be just as tough if not even tougher than the game at Brighton.
We should expect nothing less – a win will see us go 11 points above the 3rd placed Terriers in the league.
It’s a massive game.

Comment #1I think we should definitely buy Atsu from Chelski, He looks more than capable of doing a job in the Prem.

Comment #2I would love to see Atsu in a B&W shirt on a regular basis.
Someone told me that Chelsea very rarely sell a player to a club where they are on loan.
Can anyone cast a light on this please?

Comment #3Toonluvva I think he only has a year left on his contract after this season, I think if Rafa wants him he wouldn’t cost the earth.
