Rafa Benitez had some good news in his press conference early yesterday afternoon when he said Dwight Gayle was fit and he had been pleased with him in training this week and that he was in the squad.
Only Rolando Aarons and Isaac Hayden are now out of the squad and both could return for the 8 games still to play from April 1st after the two week International break.
Today we have maybe our biggest game of the season against a team that beat us 2-1 at St. James’ Park last August and are the in-form team in the Championship – Huddersfield Town.

But it’s got to be good news that Dwight is back, although it’s a toss-up whether Rafa will start the 20 goal striker today at John Smith’s Stadium.
This is what Rafa said in his press conference yesterday, when he was asked near the end if Dwight was fit – as seen on nufcTV:
“He’s fine. “He can start, but he has been some days without training.” “But the last three days he was training with the team.”
“His reaction the other day was fine. You could see that he was quite sharp. We will see.”
“We have won a lot of games without him,” “But he is the top scorer in the league and in our team.”
“And is someone who has different qualities and movements to the other strikers.”
“Hopefully, he will be available for the rest of the season.”
“If you have someone where you know if you can create one or two chances, he can take one or two, that always makes it easier for the other players.”
“Isaac Hayden and Rolando Aarons are out, but the others are available.”
In the 8 league games since Dwight injured his hamstring at Brentford on 14 January, we have won five and drawn three for 18 points from 8 games – which isn’t too bad.
We have scored 16 goals in those games – an average of two goals per game.
We need another win today.
