Vurnon Anita And Daryl Murphy Start Against Terriers

Rafa Benitez has just announced his team for the crucial game at Huddersfield Town this afternoon and Rafa has made two changes – Vurnon Anita and Daryl Murphy both start and Yoan Gouffran and DeAndre Yedline drop to the bench.

Dwight Gayle is on the bench so Rafa has gone for a little bit more experience this afternoon with right-back DeAndre Yedlin finally getting a rest.

This is what Rafa said about this game at his press conference on Friday afternoon:

“Tuesday night has given us more confidence for the future.” “It was important for the next games.”

“Huddersfield have same style vs every team. We’ll not change our approach. They’ve something to play for, that brings pressure for them.”

“Mentality is important for us. We must believe we have enough quality to win every game. We think about Huddersfield now, that’s it.”

“I remember people saying at the start of the season, ‘Rafa needs to address the away form’. Now we need to do it at home”

Just over half of our fans think we can win this game this afternoon.

I like the look of that line up. The assassin back on the bench is a nice back up plan.

Obviously going for a more defensive lineup – he said the pressure was on Huddersfield, so I expect they will be attacking, we’ll be defending. Don’t need to look further than Anita, Colback, Diame and Murphy to see that. Would say, I’d prefer a lineup where Anita plays in Colback’s stead, with Yedlin keeping his place, but maybe he’s tired..?

Townsend could have sealed it, but no. To be fair, he is playing well.

Mitrovic, Gayle and Perez on the bench is a bit of a nightmare to plan against for the opposition.

Yedlin should 100% started this game their team has alot of pace in it seems odd to drop our quickest defender? Brown in midfield is very good too heart says 0-1 head says 2-0

Diame needs to put a much harder shift in than he did against Brighton. Anita for Yedlin is understandable, didn’t look as energetic as usual against Brighton.

Let’s have a win and put this Championship lark to bed.

Playing Anita should mean that Atsu and Ritchie can swap sides during the game – if needs be.

Very unlucky for Yedlin there and am surprised Murphy is in from the start but lets see how it pans out

Gayle needs to get 3 to retake his top scorer title second half time to shine

Amazing to think we could be ahead by 5 pts plus gd if we win considering where we were at 70 mins in the Brighton game

My guess is that Huddersfield being at home will attack so we will sit back on the counter. Bringing Yedlin on fresh in the second half against a tired opposition fits that plan well.

Huddersfield will be licking their lips. Can draw level with Brighton if they win both their games in hand.

Going to be a toughy, but if we come through this with a win we’re pretty much insurmountable.

We need to be ready from the off. Give them a taste of their own and don’t give them any time.

With Brighton faltering in the last two games it will make today’s game harder as Huddersfield will be looking at that second spot and licking their lips.

Still think we will win it like.

I’d take 0-1 right now, but hope we absolutely trounce them.

Aye this time it looked a deserved red, he tried to get the ball but was nowhere near, and cleaned the forward out, looked worse because he also had his hand on the attackers shoulder.

    According to Sky Sports…

“Newcastle’s last away win against Newcastle in league competition came in December 1963 (D3 L1 since).”

    Sounds right.

Great result (Forrest), can we take the opportunity to put some daylight between us.
