Rafa Confident Newcastle Can Do Well – But Issues Warning

Rafa Benitez has given his press conference this afternoon for the important game at Reading tomorrow night and we are hoping we can make it three wins in a row away from home against another one of the top five clubs in the Championship.

Rafa has come over very confident in the team today, but he has also issued a warning that nothing is won yet – and he wants everybody associated with the club to realize that.

We can take absolutely nothing for granted.

Rafa Benitez – at his press conference

Here’s some of the comments that are being reported in the local press by reporters at the press conference:

“I have confidence that we can do well for the rest of the season, but still, my thinking is the same – it will be tough.”

When you play against the teams at the top of the table and you get results, it is even more important because we are taking points from them.”

“Reading will try to keep the ball, and play with high tempo. They’re a team that likes to have possession.”

“Gayle is good news and Anita is fine to play. Gayle is our top scorer and he can make the difference for us going forward.”

“We have to be sure every single player, member of staff and every fan knows there is still nothing won. We have to carry on.”

“It was great the way the players celebrated at the end with the fans.”

“We are seeing a response from our players.”

A win tomorrow night would be another tremendous result for the club.

Here’s hoping.

Ed’s at it again. I’m sure he waits for my post and then presses the button. Or is that just weed induced paranoia? 🙂

Toontaff, if it’s smoke I’m blowing – as accused – that’s all it can be mate. Never smoke tobacco in my life. Of course, you must understand, it’s PURELY Medicinal and I get no pleasure from it. ?

Got to say I prefer to see Yedders at right back ahead of Anita. His pace makes such a difference imo and not only defending. His overlap of Ritchie or Atsu is such a powerful weapon. Every time Ritchie gives and goes, he takes the defender with him and that opens a gap for Yedders to fly into. Causes problems for the whole defence and that’s exactly what you want.

I hope to see Murphy playing for us in the PL next season, he deserves a chance and has built up a lot of credit whilst not appearing much. Reading were the team that have worried me the most and now they have had more time to gel, they could pull off a win against us. I hope for at least a draw with probably the same starting eleven.
