Our Man Of The Match In Top Form At The Right Time

Matt Ritchie has been in great form for us this year and he now has 13 goals and he took up the slack on the goal-scoring front when Dwight Gayle was injured in mid-January at Brentford.

Thankfully, Gayle is now back fit again and he may even start the game against Fulham on Saturday.

Matt is a great character who just loves the passion that is Newcastle United and he is very well liked by the Newcastle fans.

Matt Ritchie – another excellent performance

Matt was again our Man of the Match (25%) on Tuesday night at Reading and that was for the second time in three games.

The 27 year-old has been a fabulous signing from Bournemouth and he seems to have become  a better player under Rafa Benitez over the last seven months.

Paul Dummett (18%) is next in the voting and he is in top form at the moment and he looks a much better player now than he was at the start of the season as Rafa is turning him into a top class left back.

We would be surprised if he doesn’t now start for Wales in the World Cup qualifying games later this month.

Next in the voting are three players who are always high in the voting and have been some of our top performers all season – Jonjo Shelvey (12%), Karl Darlow (11%) and Ciaran Clark (11%) and they have all improved this season too.

Credit goes to all of them.

Reckon in the summer we’ll need:
    Centre back
    Left back
    Defensive mid
    Deep lying playmaker
    Number 10
    Left winger

    Mr Tuff

”but when I learnt that Eddy Izzard and that other tax dodging knacker Bob Geldof where anti Brexit I knew I was right to vote out.”
    – – – – – – – – –

Sorry I do agreee with you on a fair few things but you go too far this time my friend.

    1) Eddy Izzard is a very switched on funny guy and does one heck of a lot for charity, ie running 28 marathons in 29 days.

    2) Bob Geldorf was arguably the man of the last century for his amazing charity work in raising millions for starving Africans.

    3) Yeah Brexit has been such a raging success hasn’t it….not! The £ not worth didley going abroad and imports more expensive, just for starters.

That Everton player seems expensive at 18 mil.

Townsend yes, did you see his goal?

Our defense is set for the PL, a rare occasion with nufc. Maybe we’ll get the Torino goalie?

We need a CF, a winger, a playmaker, definitely.

Other matters. Not sure teams sit back at our home. They tend to come right at us. We’ll drop points. But, in order to catch us, any of the chasers will need to win like all their games… Surely not!

    What a game by Barcelona!!

We need a lot of new signings for next year! And I honestly hope we do better than spending so much on McCarthy.

We need 2-3 great big money signings followed by 4-5 decent starters/bench players.

I would love to see us try bring in players such as Lacazette, Insigne etc.

Jail @1 – From our pre-season predictions Richie was the most popular choice for player of the season with about 39% of us choosing him – looks like we might get that right. Although a lot of us thought Mitro would be the top goal scorer so you can’t win ’em all 🙂

I think a CAM who could play as a No 10, replace Shelvey and play along side him would be good, does one exist?

Tielemans mate. Diame could play CM next season but this one I think Rafa needs him to be fit for CAM duty instead

Repost and as far as I’m concerned, a last comment on Brexit…..

    Mister Tuff

It’s comforting to learn that your decision to vote for Brexit was an informed one probably not dissimilar to the most of those who voted that way based on prejudice.

You mentioned Townsend as a fair prospect but Rafa’ll have to convince him that his under 26 policy should be for guidance and in many cases, sensible investment – but not cast in stone.

Ashley’s preferred buying policy could be a major stumbling block that forces Rafa out this summer. It’s got to be left to Rafa to hold sway on signings, subject to budgetary constraints of course, but if Ashley casts his under 26 policy in stone, Rafa’ll have been undermined and be off.

Let’s all hope that Rafa’s able to convince Ashley that flexibility and the on and off-field success of Newcastle United is more important than profit on sales. He must acknowledge that most of the Carr-recommended buys haven’t exactly been financial successes – nor footballing gems either.

I think the 26 year old thing has been relaxed, certainly last summer

    Matt Richie – 27
    Mo Diame – 29
    Jesus Gamez – 31
    Daryll Murphy – 33

Aye mate am not trying to kick off with everyone but I thought it was in the comment rules tbh, was when I first started on here but I’ve not looked at them in awhile

Anyway football related I don’t think Rafa will mind about the 26 and under rule as long as he has an input on who they are. Might want the option of special cases but don’t know why it’s be a deal breaker

As for Ritchie, he’s been a revelation hasn’t he! A wide man who actually scores goals, takes on defenders, puts balls into the box and back tracks! Not to mention he dropped down to come play for us. The lad is a special player and he bleeds black and white every match! Love the lad!

Rotonda you basically endorsed Bob Geldolf and Eddie Izzard (Two weird individuals) simply because they do lots of charity work. Jimmy Saville (weird individual) used to get the exact same endorsement because he done lots charity work.

Both of those two clampits are equally as weird as Saville when everyone thought he was the dogs bollox.

So spare me the he’s a great guy because he does charity work bollox PLEASE.
