Rafa Press Conference – Fulham Difficult – Gives Advice To Mitrovic

Rafa Benitez has given his press conference this afternoon for the important game at home tomorrow to an an-form Fulham side.

Newcastle have not done as well at home as away this season so hopefully with six home games still to play we can win most of them.

Rafa has talked about striker Aleksandar Mitrovic who now seems to be the third choice striker – Rafa has said he needs to keep training well, as he’s been doing this week.

Rafa Benitez – at his press conference

Here’s some of the comments that are being reported in the local press by reporters at the press conference:

“It will be a challenge for us. They are an attacking team and they create a lot of chances.”

“For us, it’s an interesting challenge. They play open football, and they attack.”

“We did well in a difficult week but we must continue to do the same. There’s still a long way to go. Fulham are difficult.”

“Fulham are an attacking team. Their offensive stats are great but they concede goals. It will be an open game. Good for the fans.”

“We are so good away it seems we aren’t good at home.”

“We have a good home record. It could be better – it must be better. But it is not easy when teams come to defend.”

“We’re in the Championship but this is still a massive club. You must have a winning mentality but also be humble- we are not up yet.”

“Mitrovic has to keep doing what he has been doing this week – training well.” “That’s the only thing he has to do.”

“He must keep working hard. Hopefully he will score goals with his national team.”

“With the striker situation it’s tough. Murphy has had to wait. Now he’s playing well.”

“We know we have ten games to play, and we know we have to win games if we want to be in the Premier League next season.

A win tomorrow would be a terrific result for the club and would ensure no clubs gain any points on us.

Here’s hoping.

Here’s the current state at the top of Championship before this next batch of games.

Four in five fans think we can win this game – but we don’t think it will be easy against an in-form Fulham side.

He always does praise Mitrovic in public like hes trying to coax performances and effort out of him

I can’t remember Rafa doing this as much to players at other clubs that were not getting much game time but he does single Mitrovic out

Bit concerning that Rafa responds “after the Fulham game we will see” to the question will he be here another year

That’s precisely why Mitrovic will be on his way. Problem child needing special attention and not showing enough of a desire nor willingness to listen, or maybe just not smart enough to understand what’s required of him.

Rafa almost certainly will get rid and bring in a ST of his choosing fit for the PL and his tactical system.

hopefully he’s not counting his chickens and wants to be 100% promoted and then will seek the usual assurances needed.

    @Hail

Yeah its looking like its the end of the road for him if hes not going to listen to and knuckle down for Rafa!

Would love us to get Sigurdsson just think he would be perfect for us Swansea wanted Mitrovic before we signed him a little swap deal would be great ha ha

    St James Park

Apparently St James, sometimes known as St James The Greater, is the patron saint of pilgrims, labourers, and Spain.

So we travel a lot and are doing ok on our travels, the lads possibly need to labour a bit more at home and of course Rafa is Spanish.

Just thought I’d chuck in a bit of useless information for no good reason. 🙂

And my internet connection keeps going down for no good reason 🙁
