Everything we will talk about as far as the summer transfer window is concerned will be assuming we can get promoted and after an alarming last couple of games both Brighton and Huddersfield have gained 5 points on us and it could be a struggle to get an automatic promotion place and as for the playoffs – knowing Newcastle’s luck that would be difficult to get promoted that way.
But every single thing this season at the club has revolved around Newcastle getting promoted so that is job one – in fact it’s the only thing that matters – so we still have 9 games to play to pick up lots of wins so we can finish top or even second top – that would be good enough.
Ryan Sessegnon – Fulham’s top youngster at just 16
After the fine display of Fulham on Saturday two players will have caught Rafa’s attention and he will have a list of the best Championship players he has seen this season who may become real targets at Newcastle in the summer.
Two of those are now likely to be Fulham’s goalscorers against Newcastle – Tom Cairney and 16 year-old Ryan Sessegnon – both of whom were very impressive against Newcastle.
Rafa tried to get Cairney in during the January transfer window, but Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic rightly said he wouldn’t sell him and the club was reported to have put a £20M transfer fee on his head.
The game he played on Saturday will make that figure not look too bad and if Newcastle do go after him this summer and he will not come cheap.
Tom Cairney – Fulham playmaker
Cairney has a Scottish father and English mother and he was born in Nottingham and has been in excellent form for Fulham all season.
Tom has scored 7 goals in 35 appearances for Fulham this season and they are currently now 7th in the Championship table on 60 points and only 2 points out of a play-off place with a game in hand, which they play tomorrow night at home to Blackburn Rovers.
And if Fulham get promoted it will be that much harder to get Cairney or Sessegnon because they will be getting Premier League football at the Cottagers
We didn’t know too much about Ryan Sessegnon before Saturday but this 16 year-old looks like an exciting player who took his two goals extremely well.
The left back/left winger has made 22 appearances for Fulham this season with 6 goals and he has lightning speed and lots of skill and has already played for the England U16, U17, and U19 sides.
He looks to be a top England player in the making, but just how much he would cost is a good question because some of the big Premier League clubs could also be scouting him.
Arsenal and Liverpool are just two of the clubs who wanted to sign the youngster last summer, so it could be difficult for Newcastle to sign this very impressive youngster.
