Partizan Belgrade center-back Nikola Milenkovic has agreed to join Fiorentina in the summer in a €5.1M (£4.4M) transfer with the deal being announced by the Partizan General Manager Milos Vazura.
Newcastle and Italian powerhouse Juventus were both linked with the Serbian international late last year with Newcastle being reported to be really interested in the 6ft 5ins tall center-back.
Nikola Milenkovic – will join Fiorentina this summer
The center-back came through the famous Youth Academy at Partizan and made his debut for the first team in the SuperLiga match against Mladost Lucani in April of 2015.
Rafa Benitez has had Newcastle scouts watching the youngster a number of times this season and he’s looked impressive.
Milenkovic has been a regular in the Partizan side this season attracting a number of clubs in Europe including Hamburg and Anderlecht, who almost signed him in January.
Partizan Belgrade general manager Milos Vazura has said this on Fiorentina’s official website:
“We have confirmed the transfer of Milenkovic, who from July 1 will be a player of Fiorentina.”
“The value of the deal is €5.1M and is one of the most important transfers for Partizan in the last 10 years.”
“Fiorentina was not the only club concerned, there was interest also from Hamburg and more.”
“I wish to congratulate Nikola and his family, who have behaved in an exemplary way and I wish him all the best to make a great career.”
Newcastle will be signing a top center-back in the summer and only recently we were linked heavily with Hull City center-back Harry Maguire, who has been in excellent form for the Tigers this season.
A fee of £12M had been mentioned, with Newcastle reported to be ready to do the deal for Maguire once promotion is assured.

Comment #2Rumours are that the new sponsorship might be from the Far East, could it be Fly Emirates? Or Qatar airways maybe?

Comment #6I was sitting in a pub in Bristol today when I got talking to a Rovers supporter who asked me where I came from. His response after discovering I am a Toon supporter. ” Ashley phooked that club years ago.” Never a truer word spoken. Sometimes an outsider can see more than those on the inside who cannot see the wood for the trees. Broken club until he goes regardless of whether we get promoted..
