Rafa Benitez has given an update on the injuries to DeAndre Yedlin, Ciaran Clark and Paul Dummett and they don’t seem as bad as first reported yesterday – especially with 23 year-old Yedlin.
It seems the American could be back in two or three weeks and with the International break of two weeks coming up, that would mean he would only miss two or three games.
The American Soccer Federation had said it would be five weeks and we assume that would be from now and not when he picked up the injury almost a couple of weeks ago.

Impressive Center-back Clark has a knee problem, but it could be that isn’t too bad either and maybe two weeks of treatment will see him OK, since he will not now be joining the Republic of Ireland squad next week.
This is what Rafa told the local press yesterday, as reported in the Shields Gazette:
“We don’t like to put dates on injuries, because sometimes it can be quicker or slower.”
“It depends on each one, but two or three weeks he will be out, and then we don’t know if it will be longer.“
“The American federation are talking about a specific time. We don’t know how long for certain.” “We will have to see how he progresses.”
“Clark twisted it (his knee) in a tackle,” “We made a substitution because he was complaining a little bit, and obviously he cannot be in the Ireland squad.”
“How long it will be? We don’t know, but he’s with the doctor receiving treatment now, and in a few days we’ll have to see how he’s getting on.”
“Paul (Dummett) has a little problem with his heel, and has had some painkillers and injections.”
“He can carry on and he’s making an effort to stay there for us.”
An advantage for all three players is that they don’t have to travel for International duty and they can all have treatment at Newcastle over the next couple of weeks, before the final vital 8 games of the season starting on April 1st.
