Newcastle had enough chances to have won the game yesterday and gain a full 3 points on both Brighton and Huddersfield, but we didn’t and we had to make do with just the one point.
🙁
But we had a perfectly good goal disallowed in the first half and these poor refereeing decisions continue to plague the game in England – too many mistakes that decide a game by the officials – it’s also true in the Premier League.
Ayoze Perez in action yesterday
Rafa was disappointed with the result, but thinks it was their goalkeeper – former Manchester United goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak who was the main reason we didn’t score and didn’t win.
This is what Rafa said after the game:
“I am a little bit disappointed but I think we did what we had to do, especially with the problems we had.”
“We done well and had control of the game. We had chances and we had a goal disallowed.”
“I have watched the replay and it was a goal. Too many things went against us and their goalkeeper did very well.”
“They had a couple of counter attacks and they could have been dangerous for us.”
“You can understand that when they are in a difficult position it is hard for them to play the way they want.”
“We did what we had to do, control the game and little by little create chances.”
“We didn’t win because the goalkeeper was doing well.”
OK – so there you have it – we didn’t win a because of the form of their goalkeeper.

Comment #1Sitc from previous – hmm unfortunately “consolidation” has been the overriding financial remit and it has got us where we are now. I will be shocked to see that plan alter in any remarkable fashion once (if) we get promoted.

We have to be realistic, tenth would be huge next year, anything above a bonus, SBR didn’t take over, stabalise us tgen magically finish 3rd the next season, his first full season was mid table-ish. I am absolutely dreading the slating Rafa will get on here as we labour to tenth with the best squad we’ve had since……….

Comment #5Where Hoots had us when he got sacked, 12th, would be a successful 1st season back.

Comment #6So with this squad that needs 100M spent and every single player dispensed except…… we should be aiming for eighth or otherwise Rafa is no better than the other patsies before him?

Comment #7No jail its the fact that people think we need to spend that much just to compete where as West Brom managed by a dinosaur can do well
At least aim for top 8 instead of just surviving we have euefa elite manager

Comment #9The Prems not that good outside the top 7.
It’s made up of teams like West Brom and Stoke.
Teams we were ahead of a few short years ago.
We’ll be better than the 2 that go up with us.
Should be as good as Bournemouth, Burnley and Swansea.
Bournemouth – think about it. OK they have no debt and are backed by some money. But, are they really a Prem team with a small ground and 10K crowds.
I think it is only possible what they do because the main income is TV and not gate receipts.

We have to be Very realistic, if we’re promoted survival has to be classed as a good first season back in the premier league. It won’t be easy.

Comment #11If this season is anything to go by with us top of the league and fans not happy, I dread to think what the moaners will be saying next season, because it will be difficult until Rafa builds a squad that can compete!

Comment #14IF we do get promoted at the end of the season, and I we do, I’m sorry but we’ll be at the mercy of Mr Ashley again.
I firmly believe he will return to his old mantra of
“Not above 7th and not below 17.”
