There’s what they are calling an exclusive in the Star today – that Luke Shaw is not happy at Manchester United and would like to resurrect his career at another club this summer.
That’s hardly surprising with new manager Jose Mourinho having criticized the young left back several times this season in the press and in addition Luke, a former boy wonder at Southampton, is not getting much playing time.
But in a surprise, he was still in Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad, despite making only 15 appearances this season for the Red Devils.
Luke Shaw – wants away from Red Devils this summer
The 21 year-old, who reportedly cost the Red Devils a massive £30M from the Saints, would not come cheap and a good question would be whether owner Mike Ashley would be willing to shell out the big bucks for the young defender.
Other clubs interested in the youngster are Crystal Palace and Stoke City who are both relatively small clubs compared to Newcastle United with world-class Rafa Benitez as the manager.
The Star report is that both PL clubs would be willing to offer £15M for the left-back and we suppose at that price Luke would be a decent buy for Newcastle – if we go after him.
Luke played 67 times for Southampton before moving to Manchester United in the summer of 2014, after making his debut for the Saints at only 16 years of age.
He has played only 47 times for the Red Devils in the last almost three years, although he was out for some time with a very bad double fracture of his leg.
Shaw suffered that in September 2015 during the opening game of the Champions League group stage against PSV, when he was badly injured by Hector Moreno with a clumsy slide tackle.
He has played 6 times for England.
Going after Shaw this summer would assume Newcastle get promoted back to the Premier League, which is still not certain.
