Rafa Benitez has again praised the Newcastle fans for their magnificent support of the team this season when we will break the attendance record for the Championship and it will be something over 51,000.
Home gates are sold out and we always take up our full allocation of away tickets and often the away games are also sold out and sometimes record attendances too.
Hopefully Newcastle will be spending only one season down below and certainly we are well placed for automatic promotion with just 8 games to play bit there will still be some twists and turns during the run in.
Rafa Benitez – asks fans to always support players
That’s unless we can win all eight games in a row.
Rafa has been interviewed in the Chronicle in an exclusive and this is what he has said Newcastle fans can do to help the club get promoted back to the Premier League over the final eight games:
“It’s true that those who are closest to you can be the most critical. The fans have been magnificent and they’ve earned the right to criticize.”
“Taking on board criticism is important for improvement.”
“But at this stage of the season with so much at stake encouragement from fans can help players achieve better results.”
“They can take energy from positive support from the stands.”
“I’m happy with our position, especially if you consider how many teams have failed to win promotion straight back to the Premier League.”
“We’ve dropped points from games we’d hoped to win, but we’re top of the table, we’ve scored the most goals and conceded less than others, so what we are doing is working and we are on target.”
“This group of players has worked so hard this season they deserve to win promotion, but we know there’s still a long way to go.”
“We all need to keep our focus and stay calm.”
So it’s important to always support the players even when they are not in their best form.
Maybe Rafa’s mantra to our players for the remaining eight games could be “keep winning and stay calm.”
That would be appropriate.
