Fit Again Player Will Be Key To Newcastle’s Run-In

Isaac Hayden has turned out to be a stellar buy for Newcastle after we picked him up from Arsenal for a measly £2.5M this summer.

Rafa traveled to north London to talk to the player in early  summer and Isaac said after their two hour meeting he had already decided to join Newcastle – so impressed was he with the Newcastle manager and his knowledge of football.

We are hoping the huge pull of Mr. Benitez will attract more good players to the club this summer.

Isaac Hayden – a good player and a great young guy

Isaac turned 22 last Wednesday and he’s just recovered from his ankle surgery, but it looks like he is now available  for our next game – at home to Wigan next Saturday – once this boring and very long International break is finally over.

It seems like it’s been two weeks already!

🙂

Isaac has been interviewed on the Newcastle web-site and this is some of what he has said:

“I’m not looking at second – we just want to make sure that we win the title,”

“The surgery went really well and the problem has been taken out, so I’ve been back in training for the last few days.”

“I feel quite fit out there – I haven’t really lost that much because it’s not been too long, so it’s just about getting the training sessions in my legs and hopefully being ready for 1st April.”

“I’d been playing with it for probably the two or three weeks before I actually stopped; the Oxford game, the QPR game and the Derby game, I was playing with it from then.”

“It was just about getting through the games the best I could and it got to the stage where it was too uncomfortable to play with and I couldn’t really concentrate on playing my normal game.”

“I was disappointed to miss out on the big games that were coming up over that period, but the most important thing is to make sure that I’m fully fit.”

“And that I can now produce the kind of performances which will help the team and not hinder the team.”

“We’ve got a big month of fixtures now and it’s up to us to perform and win the league.”

That’s good news about the ankle because it’s been a chronic problem for Isaac, so it looks like it’s finally been fixed by the surgery.

When Isaac is in the team we seem to play a lot more smoothly and with his excellent technical skills it will be a big positive to have Isaac back in the team for the vital run-in to the season.

His temperament and character are also first class.

In short – he’s a smashing lad and one terrific signing.

Hayden will make a huge difference. If only we could find replacements for Anita and Gouffran who has gone back to playing like he did the last few seasons. If Atsu can’t get in team above Gouffran at moment, then I doubt we’ll be keeping him. I’d be tempted to play Mbemba or Gamez at RB & Lazaar at LW.

Well done on a nice, positive Sunday article. I agree he is and asset. I’m pleased Hayden will be returning as we need some more leadership in midfield. Jonjo has looked undermotivated the last few games and Hayden can shoulder some of the responsibility. Awesome value at 2.5 mil. In reply to TNMW – yes what is up with Anita, he had been outstanding until his injury and now just awful; Gouf is on the decline. Not sure I agree with Atsu comment though, I think that’s more about Rafa’s tactics… HWTL!
